Thank you JT for giving a course on how NOT to handle yourself in match play when it comes to conceding putts.

 

Maybe you should run to Tiger and he can give you a lesson from Earl on how to handle such things.

 

Expect to have to make every putt.

 

Never show you're upset.

 

If you are upset don't let the opponent know and simply let your clubs do the talking. Use it as fuel

 

Attempt to act like an adult.

 

No one owes you anything in life or on the course. Suck it up and golf.

 

These things apply in Presidents Cups , Ryder Cups,  playing for a dime and especially in life.

 

 

You got mad, you had a hissy fit and it cost you. You aren't 16 any more.

 

Maybe ask some of the Korean or Asian players how to handle yourself a little better.

I like JT, but that was a poor showing... a competitor knows they need to make every putt... His ego, is getting the better of him..

I have a love not love relationship with JT.  I really do like him most of the time but then it always becomes all too obvious how immature he is and says the dumbest things.  Even his blunder when he called himself a name after missing a putt. I had two initial thoughts;

1- Who calls themselves that?

2-What mature adult not only says that but calls themselves that? It's the talk of a 12 year old. And I do think JT operates around the level of a 12-17 kid. 

 

His conceding putts thing and reaction is again the reaction of a teenager.  I know he grew up in a very insulated bubble and has yet to get out of it but my God, how immature can one guy be? 

I like many things about him but his attitude, his cold shoulders, his immaturity and inconsistency are what I don't like about him.

I'd argue that his ego and sense of entitlement are getting the better of his young mind..... One should expect to make every putt during a match..

I do agree that it can be used to fuel his internal fire, but the word disrespectful comes to mind when he starts walking away like that. He needs to find a medium to it.

I would argue the opposite. Despite losing that match, his match play record is pretty ridiculous, so whatever he is doing is working.

Fair enough. I personally don't find it disrespectful, but there probably is a happy medium.

I personally know Si Woo. Spending any amount of time with him gets under your skin. I'm sure the lack of putts given was the icing on the cake.

This most likely explains it all.

What's funny is i've played in like a hundred match play events with amateurs and i don't think i've ever seen someone make that face, or really get into with anyone over gimmes. I've played in events where almost nothing is given....and we suck compared to these guys

 

Make a joke or something....i don't know it usually gets the point across. The whole eye roll thing would just make we want to make him putt everything LOL

Not really. If I recall he did the same thing at the Ryder Cup, laying down his putter next to the hole claiming it should have been conceded. Just not a good look in general. No player is guaranteed anything in these matches, and I doubt JT give a lot of short putts to his opponents.

JT is a microcosm of his generation; zero self-awareness and doesn't know when to shut up.

He got a taste of his own medicine and couldn't handle it, quite obviously, and I'm sure this whole episode is in the Euro dossier for the next Ryder Cup.

Also typical Bammer behavior too, but that's a discussion for another day/forum.

JT got a taste of his own medicine and couldn't handle it. Getting made at SW for shushing the crowd when he is one of the most over-the-top "excitement" guys out there is laughable. Good thing some young guns stepped up for the US since a few big names simply did not show up

that might fly if you’re trying to cut him some slack. But if you watched the video and still want to give him benefit of the doubt - it didn’t work. He lost the next two holes.

HE made it more than it was and thats the point. Immature, unprofessional and bush league. If he doesnt fix it it will cost him even more down the road.

I agree with OP. Ive never been a JT fan because I've seen his pouting plenty of times before. I agree he could learn a thing or 2 from his buddy TW. Let your play do the talking. I'm glad Sii Woo made you his b**** yesterday.  Played him like a fiddle. 😂
