Key CME ranking milestone:

#1          Lydia Ko                            2542.693

#60       Jenny Shin                          474.202

#80       Pauline Roussin                   315.270

#100      Morgan Metraux                 198.237

Most players outside of CME #50 have signed up to play BMW in South Korea but are skipping MEDIHEAL next week.  I don't understand the logic.

Granted, BMW is a no-cut event and there're those guaranteed CME points; but, the field is so much stronger than MEDIHEAL.  It's much likely to finish inside Top-5 at MEDIHEAL and grab 145 or more CME points.

Last week watching the President's Cup on a pristine golf course, makes the course in Texas this week look especially rough.  October in Texas isn't a "green" month like many in other parts of the country.  I'm in the southern New Mexico mountains and August & September/October are our greenest months.  So The Colony certainly doesn't look it's best right now.  But it seems that they could've at least trimmed around the bunkers, they are really rough looking.   Nice win for Charley, it's been a long time.

The course was designed to look and play natural and "rustic".  And the bunkers were designed to be maintained that way with rough grass around the edges - they have been that way since the course opened.  Definately a different look than most of us are used to seeing.

The attendance at this tournament was unbelievably poor.

I went all 4 days and I have to agree with this. Of course, it's in the DFW metroplex, with tons of things going on for most people. Access was one way in, but you could walk right onto the course from the residential areas if you wanted to. Security was sketchy because of the openness of the area. I parked in Lot A next to the clubhouse and you could just De Chambeau under the yellow rope to the 9th green.

I "checked in" at the gate each day, and the 2nd day they scanned my ticket and said I was already scanned in. Hmmmm.

Tons of volunteers, and directions to places were sketchy.

The course is really spread out. Each hole is separate, and the distance between greens and next tee boxes are very long. There were no places where fans could "mass" and see maybe a few tee shots and greens in an area. Those not used to walking a lot (and that is a LOT of folks) could set up and cheer. The players like that. but, if you wanted to get a good work out, you could follow a group and see a lot of action. That's what I did. I lost two pounds walking!!

We had great fall weather, so I am sure many golfers were playing on the courses in the area. And, parents were with their kids on boats, at soccer fields and such. Many probably were just resting after the week of work and school schedules.

I was disappointed when I got to the practice range and 6 volunteers told me the spectators were not allowed. Huge bummer, as that has always been a place at tournaments where you could see a lot of players at one time and observe how they practice.

The tee boxes were very accessible, and you could get an up close look at the players, their swings and their clubs.

In all, I liked going but will probably just play golf next year (I'm 73). Life is short.

Money always talks, so for some reason this tournament is not held at a more intimate setting, where fans could see a lot more action without having to make it a hiking expedition.

Let's not talk about the availability of food and water. ONE food truck by the clubhouse and parking . . for volunteers only.

One food truck at #8 green and 3-4 food trucks behind #17 green. I brought sandwiches and water, stashed them in my car and made trips to replenish during each day.

It was tough seeing dads and moms trying to push strollers on the gravel cart paths. Mercifully, unlike the Bryon Nelson at Craig Ranch, I saw few toddlers. It's just not a good day for them out in the sun for hours, wondering what is happening.

I got the most out of it, looks some pics and watched Lydia Ko play, and Lexi Thompson take pelts out of the fairways.

Best pic was Lydia Ko's mom.

Brooke just changed her profile pic to dressed in black (I like it) and now I need Jeeno in all black and pair her with Sei Young and Brooke and my  3 faves would make an intimating group 🙂

@Stooch If we co-opt yesterday's Charley Hull (dressed all in black) into your squad of all-black LPGA pros Brooke H and Sei Young Kim (until Jeeno obliges with your all-black preference)...

...We could call them "Stooch's Squad"? 😬🚫🤬

Admirable R2 bouncebacks from Henderson and Sei Young Kim? I didn't manage to catch their last 2 hours of R2 (their back9) ... looks like a birdie fest!

I thought Hye Jin might have a chance to catch Jeeno for the RoY, but I think this pretty much seals it up.

BMW is a no-cut event

This last piece is the logic.  For players outside the Top 50, a no-cut event is a guaranteed paycheck which at that level of the game is hard to beat.  Bag tag and shirt/hat sponsors only go so far when you are missing cuts and finishing #60 when you do make the cut.

The median paycheck in the BMW is like $8k though.  How many are actually making money by the time you fly there, etc (granted the money/points still count in the season rankings regardless of one's expenses)?

Congrats to posh Charley Hull.

I was hoping Judy would be back for CME. She says it's Morgan Pressel's chair. I'm not sure I agree.

Maybe it's my imagination, but they all seem a bit looser when Judy is in the booth.  Judy's Drive On clip was great, too.

You maybe right that the field is set; they didn't update the entries today.

Annie is due for a good showing at the Mediheal this week with the Cali Vibes plus two top 20 finishes in 3 tries at this event

Hoping Yealimi can parlay her bogey free 66 from Sunday to this event as well (finished top 20 last season). With such a weak field, this could be her shining moment.

A great report.

I hope the organisers read it.

I tried everyday to speak with volunteers about conditions. But, all of them just wanted to work 3 shifts and get their free round. All of the volunteers I spoke with sympathized with the situation, but with free food and water/drinks, they weren't that aware of spectator conditions.

They didn't know the range was off limits to spectators.

I don't think any of the "organizers" are on here.

    • In-hand photos of 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, Stealth 2, Stealth 2 HD drivers + fairways woods
Check out our front page launch stories here and here.

What you need to know: For the first time, carbon is the most prevalent material by volume in a TaylorMade driver, and more carbon equals better performance, says the company. Last year, TaylorMade debuted a 60X Carbon Twist Face. With TaylorMade Stealth 2, engineers are bringing carbon to more of the golf club — and unveiling a new-and-improved Carbon Twist Face in the process. Stealth 2 Plus (low spin, most workable) Stealth 2, and Stealth 2 HD (draw bias, high launch, most forgiving) drivers make up the Stealth 2 family.

      Stealth 2 HD

What you need to know: Breakthrough movable weight technologies and versatile designs are the hallmarks of the 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway woods. Stealth 2 Plus is branded as “three fairway woods in one” owing to the unique performance characteristics afforded by the 50-gram sole weight. Stealth 2 features a slightly lower profile 3D carbon crown than Stealth. This moves CG down and away from the toe with more weight in the rear of the club for higher launch and MOI. Ultra-high MOI Stealth 2 HD features an oversized 200cc head and low-profile sole, creating an easy-to-hit, draw-biased club.
