What feel/sound do you prefer from your irons?

I have two sets of irons:. Pxg 0311 ST gen 4 blades and Mizuno 221 blades.

In like them both, but they feel different.  The pxg feels very thuddy and dull off the face with a louder crack sound.  The Mizuno feels very lively and crisp, but solid off the face with a sound of crisp lettuce.

What do you folks like to feel/hear in irons?

Interesting to hear your description of Mizunos.  I always thought they felt soft on a center strike.  It was my favorite feeling iron until the last few years when I became more a custom to a solid feel like a Titleist or Taylormade.

They feel crisp.  Not dead.  It's the best way I can describe it.  I love it.

I like a softer feel of a forged players cb or mb.  Not a fan of the way cast irons feel and believe me, I've owned several sets growing up.  Sound to me doesn't really matter when it comes to irons.

I like a firmer feel and muted sound, don’t like irons that are just dead soft on good strikes.

For blades....SOLID AND FIRM....Sledgehammer sound.  The best I have and tried are the TM P7TW, Tiger blades.  The feel is just a bit more muted with the LAGolf, L series, xstiff graphite shafts.

The PXG 0311ST is more muted/soft feel by comparison....I have several sets!

A nice crispy thwaaaack is always a nice sound to hear. I don't know if my description does it justice, but its music to my ears and great feedback.

That would be an excellent description for my preference as well, that sound and the feel of the ball jumping off the face. I think crisp would be a good adjective for both the sound and the feel.

My most preferred feeling though is the one where you make good impact and you see the ball sailing straight and far towards your target. Whatever iron gets me doing that more often is what I really prefer.

Same feel I got from the jpx 921 tours I had. Very crisp with a nice crack on pure strikes. Came form z785’s that felt like hitting marshmallows. Much prefer the Mizuno feel.

Im sorry man but marshmallows is def not the word to describe Z785. These irons are as CRISP sounding/feeling as they come.

It's so tough to say which is the best. I honestly enjoy all the different feel/sounds lol I always felt like mizuno was more of a thud/soft/mushy, taylormade always felt like hitting a wooden bat, srixon was like a swoosh of crispiness, titleist more of a smack, and ping was like a combo of smack/wooden bat. My descriptions are probably all over the place but I've really learned to love them all for their own uniqueness.

BUT, personally I'd probably pick srixon and then ping.

Soft, but solid? Hard to describe. But definitely soft, and not clicky at all.

I like the feel of the ball hanging for a split-second on the clubface at impact. This assumes, however, that my swing delivered a square hit on the ball.

For sound, as long as it's not irritating. But, irons are rarely the culprit. More likely to hear the tuning-fork ring on some drivers and fairways. A couple of years back, an professional audiologist posted on the sound issue. He warned that a couple of driver models generated very high decibel levels on impact. He suggested these drivers might harm a person's hearing, especially if the golfer hit a bunch of indoor shots off of mats.

Phwwwwit.

That's the sound I want to hear on a pure strike.  Kind of soft feel, but I play graphite shafts, so I get a bit of that feel anyway.

If you cup your hands a bit and make that air pocket, then clap your hands together with that deeper tone- that’s the sound I prefer, a deep, resonant thud.

Nothing sounds better to me than a clanky, SGI iron like a G710, for example, struck perfectly in the middle of the head, but about 5 grooves too low, indoors, with a hard range ball.  Music to my ears and a pleasure for my fingers and wrists.  /s

Truth be told, I am getting really into the feel of my PXGs...they are awesome and lively.

I am on the quest for the clubs I hit the best, feel and looks be darned.

These below have my attention at the moment.

Looove the feel of the Srixon ZX7, feel very crisp but soft enough. The feel & sound of a solid hit on the ZX7s with a slightly harder ball like a Pro V1x is so pure... Although for performance I switched back to the Pro V1s...

I love the sound of a solid hit by Tiger, always sounds different than the rest. I'm obsessed with the sound of this shot at 3:08:20, his 2nd shot on 11 at Augusta. Just by the sound alone you could feel how good that shot must have felt
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqYbG8Zhoag?t=11300

Or the way Tiger sounds so much different than Colin Morikawa in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zXrDVRj3eM

Tiger's strike is just so much more crisp with more of the higher pitch, whereas Colin's is such a dull thud and so blehhh to me

For me it the feel that’s soft with a kinda lively crack to it. I find it more with specific shafts than heads specially with blades.
mp5 with kbs tour 120 stiff gives that feel.  mp68. With dgs300 had a softer feel to em.  Matched my low score with those two though so while I liked the mp5 .001% better I played my best with them both.

bet total and swing weight have parts to play I like my clubs around d2-4 but the DG is a heavier shaft.
thinking you like soft then play dg. Little more lively get a lighter shaft but not graphite they seem softer almost every time to me.
