I put some lighter weight steel shafts in a set of VIP 1025M irons and tip weighted shafts with 10 gram brass tip weights to get swingweight up to about D1.  They sorta don't feel right to me...is 10g tip weight too much in hosel area of clubhead, or is it just my imagination the clubs seem off now swinging?

Fond of the wedges, blades and cavity backs. The diamonds that frame the face are my favourite aesthetic feature. Truly iconic.

Those look great raw. Notice any weight difference after stripping? I bet my Australian blades would look great with all the chrome missing instead of just some of it...

I have 1/2 dozen raw sets. Weight loss has always been 2 - 8 grams. If the heads were really beat up and required further finishing you may lose a few more. I have offset weight loss with tip weights and have never had an issue with a build.

Great, thanks. I assume you bring them to an industrial plating service for stripping?

These heads were stripped by Continental Golf and I also have a contact at a local metal refinisher. I have never used his services, but would not hesitate to send heads to Doug Oughton.

I live near Continental golf and called them today about chrome removal on a set of irons I'm working on. They said they don't do chrome stripping 🤔

I asked who might do it and they didn't really know but said maybe the iron factory. Who did you speak to when they stripped your Irons?

Stuart assisted when I sent the heads in, but this was a few years back. Not certain what they offer in regards to iron refinishing  today beyond what their website states.

Ahh OK that makes sense if it was a few years ago. I'll ask Stuart next time I talk to him.

A bit of personal irony with the V-Foil blades.  When they were introduced 20 years ago (or so), they weren't playable for me; I was a high trajectory player and they hit the ball even higher.

Now, as I've aged into no longer being that player, making them usable for me, it's a moot point.  They're fairly scarce, and most of what is available is a little more worn than I'd care for, or overpriced.

Such is life

03, I remember those feeling so pure.  Some said those were more demanding than the MBs on contact. Any truth to that?

They are some of the softest irons I've ever felt.  I was also quite surprised by the amount of offset these have and it likely turned a lot of people off.  I don't feel they are demanding at all personally as the soles are fairly chunky for this style of iron.

Best irons I ever hit, 1025M, it’s not even close. They were just an amazing blade. Ball flight, feel, consistency, forgiving. I wore the grooves completely out on my 7-pw. Used them for 10 years
