Event three of the 2022-23 PGA Tour season sees the Tour head to Vegas for the Shriners Children's Open 2022 being held at TPC Summerlin. Sunjae Im was the victor last year running away with a four shot win with a closing 62. A number of those that he beat to the line will not be with us this weekend however with world number 4 Patrick Cantlay in the field with a win, two runner-up finishes and another top 10 in the past 5 years, if you can beat him this week you will surely be in with a good shout of taking the title.

Defending Champion:-

Sunjae Im

Notables in the Field:-

Patrick Cantlay

Max Homa

Tom Kim

Si Woo Kim

Cam Davis

KH Lee

Cameron Champ

Joel Dahmen

Rickie Fowler

Davis Riley

Gary Woodland

Course:-

TPC Summerlin

Par 71

7,255 yards

Sungjae Im wins Shriners Children's Open with blistering final round, matches tourney record at 24-under 260

Woo hoo! We just wrapped up a rebuild of the entire course. New fairways, new greens, apparently a handful of greens got some changes to allow for more pin placements.

Oh yeah, new bar and patio for the clubhouse, too. And some fancy new bag tags!

Man, I've missed my club. Better field this year than last year, too.

Nice!! Hope you have a great week 😃

Taylor Montgomery with another top 10 this week. He’ll win at some point this season

Played with him in Vegas years ago. I remember he hit a flop shot off a tight downhill lie swinging about 100mph, it flew about 8 feet and stopped right where he wanted it to.

probably need to start betting him weekly

Some hopes for our top player Noren to play well and stay within the top 50, we used to have guys well up in the top 10’s (Henrik, Robban) but things have gone backwards since the great years(as well as with a lot of other more worldly things). Hope to see Alexander in the Masters!

Way back the 1st and 2nd rounds were played at different courses including Southern Highland (designed by Trent Jones Sr and Jnr). I recalled one particular hole where professional golfers were carted up a very steep hill to the tee box (asked why carts were allowed but I forgot the answer).

standard answer is prolly 'time' ...

I haven’t posted on a new tournament since Niemann left the tour…

Thought I had a Johnny Miller 2.0 on the PGA Tour to root for over the next few decades…

Loving everyone getting tripped up a bit on #7.

It's a deceptively tough hole. Short but the trees on the left guard trying to go after the green off the tee - very wide green but not very deep. So if you clear them and manage to avoid that massive bunker protecting that play, getting it to stick is tough and it's a tricky green to navigate. Fairway gets super narrow around 100yds from the green; and you got bunkers with pretty high lips left and right of that landing area. The right bunker in particular is no fun.

I usually play 5W off that tee up the right side to stay short of all that and just have a comfortable 9 or PW in depending on the pin cut.

Fun fact - this is the hole I spent a couple hours one late afternoon honing my bump and run.

I know the completely re-did the fairways this summer with new soil and grass.  Did they do the green complexes too?  It looks to me like greens are very similar to what I remember playing there.  How much have things actually changed.

Yeah, greens got new grass too. They changed a handful to allow more pin placements - I forget which ones exactly but I wanna say 5, 7, 13, 16, 17 and 18. I THINK.

I'll know when I'm finally back actually playing there next week. 🙂
