85-95gram High balance point graphite iron shafts, Ideas

Looking for ideas, so far all I see for high balance point is right at the center (50%) on some Fuji Pro 85's.  Is there anything higher than that?  I play +1" and want to reduce the amount of counterweight much as possible.  Trying to get reasonable D1/2 swingweights in the 5/6/7 irons.  Just curious what WRX's know as balance point is one of those elusive specs no one lists on the website.  Thanks

Sorry, I've not run across any in that weight range.   In fact only high balance point shaft in any range that I know of are the Steelfiber i110's.

There are some exceptions but for most people, counterbalancing doesn't generally help make the head feel lighter.  In fact, in some cases it can make the problem worse since you're just taking a heavy club and making it heavier by increasing the static weight.

The lack of high balance point shafts as an option generally means the only effective way to fix the high swing weight is to find 'b' weight heads or some way to make the existing heads lighter.  e.g. drilling weight out of the hosel.

Thanks, I think I'm into drilling. Shouldn't take much, 4-6 grams should do it to get where I want.  I agree on the counterweighting, I have noticed it isn't the same as taking head weight out.

Just be careful (or find a machine shop).  Drilling steel is not something that should be done by hand.  To do it right one should use a drill press run at the proper speed and with a proper way to clamp and mount the head to the press.

11/32" bit would need a drill depth of roughly about 2mm per gm you want to remove.  So for 4-6 gm, you'd need to drill to a depth of 8-12 mm (1/3" to 1/2" deep).

I played composite HIGH bend point, MCA, Tensei AV White AM2 Iron stiff shafts (88g-108g) in 2-PW for a year or so, very stout stiff - had SW at D1/D2.  Some months back kept those shafts in 2i-4i, but switched 5i-LW to MMT 125s.  Recently learned Tensei AV White shafts have been discontinued.  My guess is: They didn't sell nearly as well as their MMT line.  Will be going to lighter constant weight composite soon.

The LA Golf A series Mid shafts are 85 grams and have a relatively high balance point. You'll probably get around high C-value swing weights at standard lengths.
