New Srixon ZX7 MKII irons – 2022 Shriners Children's Open

These are so clean. True not much change from MkI if that’s what we’re calling them now. Do I see a slight bevel on the top line? Hopefully so. The only con I see is although I like a sharper toe like these have, I wish that they transitioned to a little rounder toe towards the 9-PW for a cleaner transition to the wedges. Overall though they look 🔥

I love the sharper toe. Always liked that look in short irons. One of the reasons I never use a set GW and prefer raw wedges. I like the definite cut off from PW to wedges.

These are probably my perfect irons.  Pre-worn leading edge + a squarer, longer blade shape.  If they did the same with the ZX5 MkII that will be perfect.  I could easily see myself in a ZX5 5-7, ZX7 8-P combo.  Hell, if the ZX5 looks as good as this does (slimmed down, less offset) I could see myself going all 5.  Forgiveness FTW.

I'm loving the new pics of the ZX7 MKII's... I was previously a hater, but the more I look at these the sweeter they look. I'm assuming like mentioned above that these pics are of the 7's that have been bent a degree or two weak, therefore taking out some offset, and that what we see in stores will have a touch more offset, which is okay by me, as long as it's not too much. I'm really curious as to if there are any in hand pictures of the ZX5 MKII's floating around that are as good detail as the ones posted for the 7's. I'm curious how these two will blend visually, but more so how pronounced the back plastic badge cavity will be in actual photos 9that's the one thing that put me off the prior Generation ZX5's... Please post if available! Thx!

Interesting! That’s why it’s so player subjective for OEM when they design, I hate a sharper toe, and love when they’re rounded off. Maybe something between a TCB and these would be ideal for “me”

As above, don't get too excited fellas. These are very likely in the 34-35 degree range for a 7 iron. They most definitely will not like this off the shelf.

Srixon does tend to implement changes that the retail crowd and tour asks for.  These already have a crapload of bounce, and bending them weak by 3* would only serve to increase that.  It wouldn't shock me that they got some feedback from players to reduce the offset.  I mean they brought back the notched sole and squarer shape for the ZX5 and ZX5 from the 745 when a lot of the Srixon pros refused to switch to the newer models because it lacked these features.  I can imagine original prototypes didn't change much so the pros said no way unless you do X and Y.

My take anyways.  We will have to wait and see.  I'd be disappointed, honestly, if these were just bent weak.

I'm a fan of the sharper toe...for me nothing looks better than the look of the Z745 PW at address.  zx7 MKII looks like it is pretty close.  Here is a pic of the Z745 PW pic from Golfwrx...looks pretty close:

I know this is 9i and Pw comparison, but yeah they look great. Toe and topline is similar. I'm doubting that 9i is bent.

EDIT: After looking at my irons I am now pretty certain that Mkii 9i and 745 PW are bent.

The offset is exactly the same as the previous ZX7. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Have you seen them in hand?  I just confirmed from a source who held Taylor Pendrith's in his hand that they are in fact lower offset than the previous iteration.

i have the zx5 and these mk2 looks like are more solid and one piece moulding. the zx5 and 7 the backing is glued on.

The 5 series has always had a badge glued on over the cavity. The new MKII zx5 will be similar. The 7 series in the pic has always been solid 1pc forging.

Love these. Srixon does make a quality iron. I'm quite sure these will play and feel fantastic. Anything that brings their irons closer to the 745s is a good thing.

That said, I do agree with the comment about labelling the tech on their clubs. That is absolutely not necessary. Perhaps Srixon needs reminding that less is more...

Also very curious about the Utility irons. I am experimenting with the idea of a high lofted utility just to make life easier. Curious if I should go ahead and snag a U85 6 iron to try or wait for a possible new one.

Im going to have such an ugly bag progression with what I’m figuring out recently. I’ve started looking for the right fit on each club in my bag instead of trying to make them brand cohesive (totally new concept I know). I’ve tried to go 5i -GW all the same irons and I’m figuring out this hasn’t worked well.

Perhaps I’ll detail this journey in another thread.

@Arlin964 Nothing wrong with a mixed bag... I'm considering ZX Utility 4 iron, ZX5 5-7 iron and ZX7 8-PW with MG3 wedges at 51, 56 & 60.... Whatever works for you!
