New Srixon ZX7 MKII irons – 2022 Shriners Children's Open

Recommended Posts

I have to say that, having tested both, I am currently torn between the ZX7 Mk II and the JPX923 Tour. The funny thing is that the recommendation from the fitter has a different shaft in each depending on which way I go. If I remember correctly it was the ZX7 Mk II with the NS Pro Modus Tour 120 S or the JPX 923 Tour with the Project X 5.5

He was suggesting it was something to do with the bend profile of the different shafts and the weight distribution in the heads? It wasn't entirely clear to me and I have to find the time an a place to test those configurations against each other ...

What did you not like about the 223 Pros?  I just switched over to those and will be here this week.

*I was looking for some gains distance but keep accuracy based on some issues I had last year and the 223's with a differnt shaft then current I was able to see some good gains.

** your club listing we are almost the same now. that I got the 223s coming  I have the TSi3 driver though.  Wedges I flip between SM8's and RTX and lately been sticking more to RTX.

They are fine. I just preferred the feel of the ZX7 and am a sucker for new gear. I would be surprised if I play any better or worse with the ZX7's than I do my 223's. I have a set of T100 in the bag now. Yeah, I have issues.

I actually was thinking of going back to my TSi3. Not sure what it is with the TSR2 but I am losing too many shots to the left with it.

TSR2 and TSi2 have a bit more draw bais if i recall right (?)

The TSR2 seemed like a nice improvement over the TSi2.

TSR3 VS TSi3.... keep the TSi3 if you have one, not even close to upgrade.

** IF looking at Titleist find a TSi3...

My guess is the difference in shaft recommendation has more to do with the fact that the Mizuno irons are 2* weaker than the Srixon irons. If you bend the lofts to match, I bet you could play either shaft. That being said there is quite a bit of difference between Modus 120 S and Project X 5.5, despite the fact the weights are similar between the two. Both are designed for mid launch and low spin, but PX will feel much stiffer.

Can you compare numbers to mki? Any significant differences?

I’ve only hit the zx4 mkii and did not hit previous at all. The 7 iron ball speed and dispersion is crazy. All 2023 equipment I’ve tested has been very good.

Ive already raved about these, but I cannot get over how amazing these irons feel. Played a few rounds now and I have seen my GIRs skyrocket ESPECIALLY on my courses long par 3s.  Ive have ALWAYS been a Titleist fanboy and I have fully converted to Srixon. I am loving the small tungsten insert in the long irons and feel like I dont have to try as hard. Seeing a much straighter ball flight and great launch. Just need the midwest to warm up so I can nail down distances.

Looks like they're on the Srixon website now.

Disappointed they're not offering the KBS Tour V option with this lineup.

I thought that I saw the Tour V in the list somebody posted in one of these Srixon threads.  It was an upcharge, but I thought that it was offered.

I guess not much demand for the Tour V, IDK?  Kind of funny since they decided to make the stock shaft for the ZX5 and 4 KBS Tour Lite.  You would think that they would have all of the KBS shafts.  Maybe KBS is going to discontinue in the near future or something, they have slimmed down their website a lot recently, and what they have actually makes sense now...lol

Yea my thinkin exactly regarding all KBS shafts, especially since it's available to order on KBS website. Oh well, hopefully not too big of a difference between Tour and Tour V.

Just double checked their drop down menu and they only offer the Tour Lite, Tour, C Taper and S Taper

Check Golf USA Manhattan. It's in the dropdown there as an upcharge, though who knows what the availability actually is.

Might be Srixon's subtle way of suggesting that ZX5 iron players check out the utility 3 iron.

Seems like they are pretty similar to models before(which is a good thing) but consistency was crazy tight. Not sure how that compares to model before    . Hope they post a h2h

Looking to buy a Zx7/5 combo set.  I'm a lefty so Srixon does not offer a gap wedge...anyone have any recommendation on a gap wedge that would blend well with the Zx7?  I use vokey's for my lob and sand wedge, but was looking for something with slightly more "meat" behind it for the gap wedge.
