New Srixon ZX7 MKII irons – 2022 Shriners Children's Open

Recommended Posts

Just to be clear, the ZX5 does have a 3 iron with an asterisk next to it, which was mentioned earlier looks to be separate, but can include it wanted.  All 3 models include a gap wedge/attack wedge/whatever you want to call it.

Also, Has anyone else noticed that there is no mention of tungsten weights in the toe that they have had on all of the previous models?

Still there, visible in pics. Seems like they are trying to highlight the changes and not focus on the previous tech. I was also surprised it wasn’t in the tech highlights.

Very few reviews seem to be talking about the laser etching on the face? Thought part of the update was to address the low spin nature of ZX mki.

Regardless, I'm 90% sure I will be gaming these irons this year. Will compare against Cobra Tour and Ping i230. Already ruled out T100 and 223.

Looks like they're on the Srixon website now.

Disappointed they're not offering the KBS Tour V option with this lineup.

Taylormade has taken over with KBS this year. Tour V is a great shaft, just not the most in demand one from KBS.

Agree. I have a set of Z745s that are GOAT status, just too much offset for me now days.

I play Miura MB101s and TC201s. Some of the best I have ever felt playing!

Moving the mass that they did to behind the center should increase spin somewhat. Purely speculation since I don't know the design theory, but it looks like they took mass from out towards the toe and centered it. I don't know how much, but doing this could help the face release and also make them slightly more forgiving on misses across the face.

I imagine they will spin slightly more but guessing nothing too, too drastic...

Just placed an order today.  ZX5 LS Driver, ZX 15* Fairway Wood, ZX Hybrid, ZX4 (4-iron), ZX7 (5-PW).

I've taken some detours away from Srixon but I always seem to migrate back to them.  Decided to just lean all the way in this year.

Damn, did you order the tour bag too?

If anyone here has hit both Z785 and MKII I’d be interested to hear feedback. Still love my Z785 but the itch is there for something new.

Just wanted to add that...... I don't think these irons are underrated. Nearly everyone who actually uses them (or even tests them) gives them 5 stars. Most of the uninformed golfing public simply hasn't given them a chance.

Srixon irons have GOAT status on this site dating back to the 745's

Endo forged, and in Left handed, yes.

Maybe most don’t care, but why doesn’t Srixon advertise that these irons are forged by Endo in Japan? Haven’t found anything that Srixon puts out suggesting where the new irons are forged.

To me the MK II has a slightly more solid feel than the MK I. I had the 765s, skipped the 785s, and currently have the ZX7mki… I didn’t the the 785s were particularly forgiving compared to the others. I’ll post GC3 data against the MkI when my MkIIs arrive.

I usually order directly from Srixon. Their site currently doesn't offer anything other than 4-PW, 3 iron and AW. Hoping they allow me to order 5-PW here soon because I haven't used a 4 iron in a couple of years. My ZX7 MKI 4 iron looks brand new still and I've had it 2 years lol

I agree the 745s look so good, but the last three iron sets have way less offset and I love the less offset look better.

I took the 745s out for a like a fun charity round and they were great except over draw for me....

Part of me wants the new shiny upgrade but also could just save the money and use it elsewhere....

Someone help convince me to just keep playing the ZX7s..

In the same boat with you. Log on everyday and build a new set, and then talk myself out of it. Love the hell out of my ZX7's. I look at the changes as very incremental. I'd be paying a lot for a little bit more spin and forgiveness, and a small change in (more solid) feel.

If you put the specs side by side (blade length, sole width, offset), you are talking <0.5mm of difference between the two models and a less than a handful of grams moved. I tell myself I am basically buying the same iron. Unless you need every last RPM of spin because you play on firm, firm greens then save yourself the money for now. I think the really movers in this line are the cosmetic changes of the 4 and 5 to blend through a set. I may be wrong when they do the head to head but I think the differences will be marginal between these two.

You should keep playing your ZX7's. Then, when a bad ball striking round creeps in, you will blame them. You will look for positive reviews of the ZX7 MKII. You will only read those reviews, not the ones saying they are essentially the same playability wise. You will take those cherry picked reviews as gospel, and order yourself a set of MKII. Wait, sorry, that's what I usually do hahaha!

Albeit, like Endy's predicted, won't stop me from always reading this forum, being jealous of people getting their sets and saying how great it is.

I don't know if anyone else does this but have done this my last two sets of irons and it's paid off (at least in my mind). Whenever I get a new set, I order either an extra 7 iron which is for practice or warming up. I've had my zx7s for 2 years and have about 150-175 rounds on them - grooves look 9/10 and rest of the clubhead is great outside of the typical bag chatter. I go with 6 or 7 iron since they are enough club to show the misses and work on everything else. Hit my woods as well and chip and putt, but when it comes to full swing iron work I have a default club for that and it saves so much wear and tear on the gamers.

This is another reason I can't bring myself to get the newbies when the current ones look 90% new still...

Had to talk myself out of ordering the new Cobra MB/CB set this morning as well 😀

Play some of my best golf every from a ballstriking POV these past two years. I am not sure another $1200 and identical irons will be worth the ROI. That's what I tell myself everytime my mouse is hovering over "Pay Now"

I don't do this but have often considered it. If I do order the MKII I likely will order an extra 7 iron but may even go a step further and order the Z Forged 7 iron as a way of forcing myself to be a better ball striker. That could backfire, though haha.
