Got out for some range time and 13 holes with my new MkII woods and irons.  Feel and performance was amazing.  I don’t say this lightly but these are the best irons I’ve ever had in the bag.

I went with the ZX4 in the 4 iron and ZX7 in 5-PW.

Not to derail the thread from the irons, but how bout those woods? Any other new releases to compare them to? Hearing the ZX5 LS could be a monster...

Woods look great in hand - did not test them at the time but the Driver, Fairway, Hybrid all look and sit amazing. I always hated the three woods crown but with the matt finish this year looks solid. ZX7 feels like it sits real open but sure you can tweak that (if you want to... I hit a draw now so would tweak) and the review on TXG yesterday is really promising...

I posted pictures in the Srixon Driver thread but yeah the ZX5 LS is fantastic.  I went with the LS with a HZRUDS Blue 60g shaft and for the first time in a long time I'm hitting smoothing little baby fades.  Distance wise it's pretty much in line with my Stealth driver but the forgiveness and control is off the charts.  I need more time with it obviously but I feel like this thing is going to be a weapon for sure.

Shaping and matt finish is great, if you get the right shaft combo it will be power

I hit them in Phoenix.   They felt fantastic and workable.   If your looking for a new driver this year make sure to put the ZX7 and ZX 5 lineup in your testing.

I did not change my driver as everything I hit was pretty much the same in the fitting... gain a few yards here or there but trading off a bit more right or left so was not worth the $$$.    Moat all top drivers are all so good now it really comes down to getting fit.

How's the sounds with no carbon?  Heard the sound is the main draw back??

Yup.  My co-worker has the hook up with a Srixon staffer so as soon as the pre-orders opened we jumped on it and they built/shipped the clubs super fast.  I got Driver, FW, Hybrid and Irons last week and already got a round under my belt.

It's different for sure, especially coming from a TM Stealth.  It's not bad, though.  I think I've gotten so used to the softer sound of a carbon driver that this one caught me a little off guard but it only took me a few holes to get used to it.  The result on the course was fantastic, though.  Smooth little predictable baby fades, which is very different for me because I typically hit a draw.  With the HZRDUS Blue shaft I literally couldn't get the ball to turn over.  Might not sound ideal but for someone who's miss is a hook I was so happy to see that the left side of the course is no longer in play.  I hate the term "point and shoot" but it really was.  The 3 misses I had were arrow straight and just didn't fade.  Not penalizing, just barely off the fairway.  I'll take that result all day long.

Incredibly well for the few times I got to hit it.  Probably hit 6-7 balls on the range and only a couple out on the course.  Best one of the round was out of a fairway bunker.  I had too far left in on a par 5 to try and hammer a fairway wood but could clear the lip with the hybrid so I sent it down there as far as I could get it.  The ball launched and carried beautifully out of the bunker right on target and left me an easy wedge in.

The biggest thing I was looking for in the hybrid was gapping on top of my 4 iron.  The ZX4 4-iron launch a tiny bit lower than the 4 hybrid but the latter has probably 10-15 yards more carry, which is exactly the gapping I was trying to achieve.  Gonna be a great addition to the bag.

The new @Srixon / Cleveland Golf (Dunlop Sports) website is absolutely brutal.

I'll never understand why companies launch new websites that are worse than the previous one.

Yeah absolutely, I agree 100%!

Whatever company designed that new website for them absolutely butchered it…no doubt about it.

I really love the Driver. I can for sure say I hit it a lot straighter. hard to judge a lot out here with cold temps right now, but accuracy is good. Last year I played the tsi2 3 wood and told myself I would never change, because I finally found something good off the deck. It has made its way to the club rack and the zx5 3 wood is in play. Granted im sure the premium shaft change has helped, but I really feel like its even EASIER to hit off the deck. Able to work the ball a lot better right to left as well. Less spin. ONLY complaint I have is that I wish they kept the full matte crown like they did on the hybrid! The hybrid looks awesome from address. Im excited for the weather to kick over to really get to testing.

Slightly more spin yes. Launch i didn't focus on as much so i can't recall. Not a crazy amount of more spin, but I prefer more spin so was glad to see a couple of rpm's more

Ok thanks, the zx7 mkii and ping i230 are on my short list of irons this year. I’m fairly steep so the v sole always works well for me but ping irons always seem to hit the window I’m looking for.

Mine were supposed to have arrived today, but FedEx...

Had the Z745's in the bag for almost 7 years now (a backup set also), figured these were worthy of replacing them. Actually haven't even hit them yet, but seeing them in person was all I needed. I might be a Srixon lifer when it comes to irons. Got sucked in to the strong lofted iron craze last year and I built a set of Mizuno Pro 225's. Those lasted all of one round in the bag. Little nervous about potentially replacing my 745's, because I know them so well at this point. But they've got a few dings in the soles at this point from hitting it in some precarious positions in tournaments. So I think it's time.

My ZX7 iron numbers are a little low, can changing balls add some spin? Any suggestions of mid range balls that are responsive around the green?

Sure, a ball change can definitely add spin depending on what you are currently playing. Also could weaken the lofts a bit to pick up some spin.

A urethane cover ball will definitely give you more spin. Some of the higher spinning urethane balls off the irons are
