I hope this isn't the start of a new trend, where fairways become the same price as drivers, followed by hybrids in the next cycle.

The Max fairway is massively cheaper so it's a one off i reckon. Think back to the TSI Tec all titanium FW all those years ago. It was big dollars - all titanium. It stopped there.

Having worked in planning for a consumer durable firm, so being aware of costs, margins etc, I won’t pay what I consider to be excessively high prices for the latest gear. Very roughly, I assume first-release prices are at least 3 times factory-door costs. Probably higher for much of the stock-shaft products. A set of new hybrids is going to run at c £1k. Absurd, I’ll buy heads only or the obsolete model if I need anything. That’s precious little having Scots antecedents. Do the OEM’s discuss release prices at informal meetings I wonder ? Anyone have insight ?

Made in Arizona USA... available 1st in Australia. Awesome 👍.

Think of it like an Apple computer.

Engineered in California, but most definitely made in China.

Here's the pricing i expect:

MAX - $599

LST - $699

FW Max - $399

FW LST - $499

Hybrids - $299

...hope you're wrong, $699 is making TSr look seriously great, value for money. And TSr is better looking as well.

Pricing is an interesting one for sure. Due to a whole host of factors, we had demand far outstripping supply. Now we have supply normalising as disposable incomes are getting crunched pretty much globally.

A parallel may be the CPU market. There was a shortage for a long time and at the same time that supply has normalised, demand has done a Wile E. Coyote. AMD has chopped $1 billion off their revenue forecast for next quarter.

SO they do not offer the KAI'LI shafts in  "TX"... total bummer. The TX is awesome great low torque shafts but the "X" is 1 degree more torque and just not the same shaft.

Interesting to see that the LST driver head weight is 208 vs. the Max at 206. Guess reducing overall head weight wasn’t an aim with the carbon wrap so much as positioning it at the back to increase forgiveness on that model?

I think so, also the same weights as the G425 drivers. Most people seemed to swing the G425 LST a little faster than the Max in spite of the weight; my guess is that the 440cc head improves aerodynamics enough to offset an extra 2g.

Still heavy overall, but take out the 7g for each of the adapters and ferrule as Ping advertises weight included with those, so respectively 201/199g

Gotcha, I didn’t realize that but it makes sense. Do you happen to know other brands’ adapter weights? I’m sure somebody on here has measured them. Basically wondering how 208g compares to my 194g-plus-adapter Titleist driver weight.

Cobra 6g

Titleist 8g
Ping is actually 4g if I recall, not the 7g I thought

The sound is much better. The graphics aren't distracting -- if you could already handle turbs, the little outline is nothing.

If sound is your thing, you'll upgrade.

Tested G430 LST and Max today. They look good at address, sound way better than G425, but I saw no improvement on Quad against my G410 LST. In fact, I hit my longest of the session with my G410. Even the fitter, to their absolute credit, said there was no point changing.

For my delivery, we actually agreed G410 LST managed spin off-centre the best.

The sound of the G430 LST is great, pretty similar to my gamer, so if you see a gain, you’ll be pleased.

For me, I’m going to test TSR next and see if the lighter head weight of that offers me any better speed on my G410 without losing stability off-centre.

I wasn't on a meter, but I saw exactly the same thing. It's a brilliant driver, but if you have and like a 400 or 410, you'll probably stick to it. If you have a 425, well… you do you, especially you Max owners.

If someone offered me a super deal, I'd probably take it. The sound is brilliant.

The fairways intrigue me most. Loved the look of the 425 but the three dot alignment bugged me. Glad they made it cleaner. And with the new tech, I can see it making its way into my bag.

Aside from distance and sound, were there any other performance differences between the two that you all noticed?

Also, any chance one of you hit the G430 LST 3 wood?
