Ping G430 LST and Max drivers, G430 Max fairway wood & G430 hybrid – 2022 Shriners Children's Open

So I got to do a mini fitting session at a place called Golf5 Prestige. Place was awesome, I just walked in and the guy let me hit whatever I wanted and made a few recommendations. I hit the 9 and 10.5 LST with Ventus TR 6x, Diamana GT 6x, Speeder NX 6x and Tensei 1k Orange 6x. They had a couple LST’s on the rack for sale with the GT and NX so I was hoping to fit into one of those but they were just not a good fit for me and everything was going left. The TR was solid, but the 1k Orange was fantastic. I also hit the PING Tour 2.0 Black 75x at another store which was really good. Unfortunately, the stores I’ve gone to don’t stock anything in x so I think I will probably hold off on buying one here. Plus the dollar weakened a little bit today. In usd it would be about $580 for a stock setup and $784 for a GT or NX. I’ll think about it for the next few days, but will prob wait until I can get one with the tour black or the 1k Orange. For what it’s worth, I also hit the new Srixon and some PRGR prototype driver and the PRGR was clearly the best fit.

425 was a 'miss'

I think there is enormous hope for this to make up for it

hence the extra bit of hype

miss? I don’t think they missed anything with the 425 line.  The hype is simple , it is a new club coming out simple as that. Marketing on all of these new releases is all about hype.

Correct which I totally disagree, 425 was/is a great line, unclear why some are calling this a miss.

Yeah I’m bashing that G425 LST so good it’s gonna make paying for G430 hard. I’m still gonna do it, but I don’t see how it can get much better than the G425 LST…

Then to that same token, the G425 missed YOU, you mean.  With all new releases, mileage may vary among users.

There’s no difference in the actual tech, but hot melt placement (which ping does with G-Loo at your request as a customer) and him knowing which loft he has (which ping does if you request digital loft)

Well, I found a deal I could not pass up and bought an LST 9* and has the tour chrome 2.0 65s. I actually hit it a few times and the shaft was fine. Now just need to figure out how to get the shaft home. Keep tabs on the BST over the next month for this or my TSR3 😂

I want to say that the tour black feels like a whiteboard maybe. Softer handle stiffer mid to tip. I want to say the tour chrome is maybe like a DI. Stiff tip medium mid and butt. I think they both have good feel to them. The old tour shaft alway felt pretty stout to me and I think I get a bit less of that in these new ones, but I am not super sensitive/aware of shaft loading feels so take all that with a grain of salt. These thoughts could be way off from the actual profiles.

Please don't quote me on this, and perhaps someone can corroborate, but I thought I read Ping hired a designer from Aldila specifically to work on the new Tour shaft for the G430 line.

Oldenburg is on staff, but he was also a part of LA Golf prior to that. So any assumption that the new shafts correspond to Aldila’s line should be put to rest. The new line is manufactured by Fujikura.

LOL, quoting exception to refute general case. That's not how it works.

Not really an exception.  Except for the occasional one-off club  (like Bubba Watson's iblade 2 iron),  you can pretty much order the exact same stuff from Ping that gets played on Tour.  As another poster said, You can order digitally lofted driver heads (like Finau's) and you can order extra hot melt.  Ping stands out from other manufacturers in that you can play precisely what the Tour Pro's play  (using this option can be dubious at best since golfer specs can vary so much).    Your post is applicable to some OEM's.  Not so much with Ping.

LOL calling Tony Finau's success (3 wins in last 7, 4 wins in last 30) with G425 an "exception." G425 is in tons of bags, has won tons of tournaments, was MGS most wanted driver, and on and on. G425 quality and success much more the general case than the exception.
