Lake Tansi @ Crossville TN

We had a guys trip with 16 players last weekend. We played three courses at Fairfield Glade (Dorchester, Druid Hills and Heatherhurst Brae) and finished Sunday at Lake Tansi. It was our first time on that course so I thought I'd write a review.

Lake Tansi is probably 25 minutes from Fairfield Glade so right on the edge of convenience for including it in a Crossville rota. We used it on Sunday as a transition toward home since most of us were driving back toward Chattanooga, Nashville or Knoxville.

It's a stand-alone course that routes through a residential area. The fairways are somewhat more generous than what you see at Dorchester or Druid Hills...more similar to Brae or Stonehenge in that respect. The greens are bent grass and relatively small especially on the back nine. Conditions overall were really good. The fairways were plush and the rough was noticeable but playable.

If you've played at Fairfield Glade you're probably used to the short, hilly par fours that seem kind of monotonous after a while. There are a couple of these at Lake Tansi (#7 and #10 IIRC) but there are also some big boy par fours (#17!) and several great par five holes (#5, #9 and #18 were notable). The par threes are a bit routine with most of them running from 140-160 yds from the white tees but the smaller greens make them challenging.

I'd definitely return to Lake Tansi. Unfortunately I have no idea what the greens fees are since we were playing on a package deal, but $50 can't be too far off.
