Suprised that nobody is talking about Kim Min Sol  amateur 16 year old currently in 2nd place after 2 rounds..

Impressive ball striking.

If the strike sound is accurate on this coverage, hers sound in a different league to others.

Gotta disagree. The rankings are weighted towards recent play. She's been solid. Two wins, and 11 additional top 10s? That includes 3 top 10s in the five majors. Eight top 10s in her last 11 starts. One missed cut in 17 events. That's #1 material.

Is Jin Young's recent play worthy of #1? Nelly? Minjee? Hardly.

The only other players that could be considered worthy of #1 ranking now would be Lydia and Brooke.   Lydia and Atthaya have comparable records in the majors this year and both have consistently finished top 10 all season (Lydia 12, Atthaya 13), but Atthaya already has a second win.  Brooke has the 2 wins, one being a major, but is a little behind as far as top 10s (9) and only one other top 10 in a major.  It sure looked like Minjee was headed to #1 if JYK faltered, but she has really dropped lately.

Minjee has been looking mortal of late. She even missed the cut at the KLPGA Hana Bank event recently.

Crazy game, isn't it? Minjee looking mortal. Jin Young looking mortally wounded. Nelly stumbling.

Danielle has looked solid after her layoff, but still not 100 percent.

As we've seen recently, it's a golden opportunity for players to grab their first win, as the usual suspects aren't always in the hunt.

Apologies if this has been covered earlier in the thread, but the enhanced sound effects are interesting with this coverage. It literally sounds like they are putting into a tin cup. The tee shots have a massive "swoosh" sound. It's a little bit cartoonish. I realize it's not a Golf Channel production as they break away to commercial right in the middle of a swing sometimes.

Oh, and the 16-year-old amateur, what a great swing.

The tin cup sound is authentic, but manufactured. One of the players in the 2nd round had the sound played before she even stroked her putt.

Is it outlandish to think Andrea Lee will have a better career than Nelly from this point forward

The sound is ubiquitous with golf coverage in Asia.

If you watch the Japan Tour, Asian Tour, KPGA, KLPGA and JLPGA coverage, you will hear that sound all day long.

After bogeying two of her first three holes, Yealimi Noh finished with five birdies and no other bogeys.  She seemed to save her best for last recently.  However, this has been a costly tournament; her CME ranking dropped from #74 to #77; endangered her chance of finishing inside #80 for 2023 ranking.

She's at least one more tournament, Pelican, to right herself.  She may or may not qualify to play Toto in two weeks.

Congratulations, Lydia!

She has put on quite a show and ran away from the field!  This will be her 18th LPGA win and her 22nd Hall of Fame point.  She'll likely pick up two more by winning 2022 Player of the Year and Vare Trophy.

The answer to "Will Lydia dominate like the Lydia of Old" is a resounding "Yes"!

L. Ko made it look quite easy.

Some more footage of Shibuno's reaction.

I really wish I understood Japanese or that YT's auto-translate worked a little better because I saw a few other Japanese YT channel clips and Hinako's post-round interview.  One clip started while Hinako's group was waiting on the tee and she and Wei-Ling Hsu were checking out the BMW on the ramp.  The commentators were discussing that the car prizes were for only the first 2 players to get a HIO and that NYC got the X7 and Ariya the Sedan.  I could be (and probably am) wrong, but after Hinako realized she got the HIO, it appeared that Wei-Ling let her know or reminded her that she hadn't won a car.  Obviously, in the post-round interview, they were asking Hinako about the HIO, so that probably would've made it clearer if she already knew or if she was told that she hadn't won a BMW.  Heh.

Congrats to Lydia - that was one heck of a closing round.  It was great to see Andrea sink that birdie on 18 for solo 2nd.  I was also happy to see Ariya play well.

They showed NYC after her round and, as expected, she was quite emotional.  Danielle Kang even sprinted over to give her a hug before she made her way to the scoring tent.

Yeah I think they realised Shibuno wasn't going to the get the car when you can see her face changed.

I've seen D. Kang on NYC's channel when they played with Maverick (yes this was a bit old), Inbee and Lee5. They must be pretty close.

I have not watched the final round of the BMW tournament. I've recorded it & will watch this afternoon some time.  BUT.....I will tell you one thing, I will not be listening to any commentary.  I simply cannot stand listening to those two constantly chattering women!  I will have to work real hard at not finding out who won.  🤣
