Joking aside some time around 1997-1998 Top-Flite had balls named system-T and system-C that were supposed to be optimized for the Taylor Made Ti-Bubble II and Callaway GBB drivers respectively.

Not sure how they sold and not sure anyone would admit buying them.

I do know, they were basically Surlyn distance balls and were maybe $15-20 a dozen.

This is so suss.

The CEO doesn't list his/her whole name.

It looks like it comes out of South Korea... AutoFlex style. AutoBall must be trademarked. Homeboy in the lower left flashing Korean gang signs..

The World Record Committee is even more suss.

They are directly aimed at people who buy clubs like the new Big Bertha irons at $450 per club.  Money is not important.  Status is everything.

From what I have seen so far for anyone that buys them,  hopefully sound, feel and performance aren't important either.

  • 1 month later...

I decided to become a guinea pig for this. Got a dozen and decided to play a round with my son (He's +2 handicap).

I could not find any crazy distance increase in 4 holes. I hit a second shot with an iron on the 4th hole, felt like I could not hit any better thinking it will be next to the hole ended up 10 yards short. I changed back to my proV1....

On the last hole after we hit tee shots, both of us decided to try this crazy ball for the last time. It was about 240 yards to the green. I hit a 3 wood ended up 20 yards short to the green where my son hit a 5 wood and passed the green by almost 20 yards.

His tee shot was about 20 yards further than normal as well. My swing speed is around 95-100mph and my son's swing speed is a way faster as he comfortably hits over 320.

I did not see any difference especially with irons. My son, however definitely thinks this one flies further. Even my shot's flight was a lot higher than normal.

I think this ball is for a hard hitter.. Ball feels rock hard like pinnacle as your nails could not get into the ball at all when you try to press it.

I gave the whole dozen to my wife and told her not to hit them when she sees water on the way to green... puhahaha..

It was not impressive at all on my side but my son gained distance a lot. However, he did not like delicate shots around the green. Not easy to shape the ball as grooves are shallow and big.

Should I try it for another round? I am thinking but not very impressed with these.. I even know the CEO of this company personally as they used to make clubs, apparels and balls in the past in Asia.

For me, this is a dud... Do not get your hopes up...

And of course if they were ever sanctioned for play everyone would want an amendment to  18.2 (a) 1.

Proposed Rule Revision-

18.2 Ball Lost or Out of Bounds: Stroke-and-Distance Relief Must Be Taken

a. When Ball Is Lost or Out of Bounds

(1) When Ball Is Lost. A ball is lost if not found in three minutes after the player or his or her caddie begins to search for it. The three minute time limit is extended by 1 minute for every dollar an idiot pays for a single golf ball over $4.00.

That would include Titleists then.

The “world record” is suspect, but what’s even more suspect is their own numbers…

at 110 mph swing speed on a robot, the ball went 320 yards indoors, and 277 outdoors…I mean, a lot of us hit further on the sim, but a 43 yard discrepancy is pretty wild, they must have the golf shop extra distance settings turned up to 11 or something
