CPO has tour issue TC-serial Rogue ST Max and Max D drivers available for sale. I am not sure how they got these in so quickly for sale. Limited quantities and shafts. All are 'Like New' condition and start at $491 with NO DISCOUNTS able to be applied. These are going for $800 on ebay IIRC

They are not listed on the website and are hidden. They were just priced out today.

Probably not going to buy one, but that is some great inside info.  Any idea what is special about the TC in these cases... or just the normal flatter lie, maybe thicker face, ... ?

Basically thats it; plus open face angles. I like tour issue heads because I like to use the +1 and +2 settings sometimes and when you do that on a retail head they close up visually pretty dramatically. The flat lies plus the open face angles of most tour issue heads still look neutral to open even in the +1 or D settings so thats a big plus for me.

 

Sometimes tour heads will have sharper crowns or visual features but not these heads.

 

Also a plus about tour heads is the ability to pick your specs, but unfortunately through CPO it's a random draw and you cant specify anything.

They are critical to a fault but on both ends of the spectrum!

That is some good looking average condition. 
 

I think  this is the exception though and not the expectation…. Most of the average irons I gambled on in the past needed to be returned, they are pretty beat. 
 

btw…. epic speed fairway woods are now 30% off…. So reach out to customer service and get those price adjustments. your price just got even better….

Heres why I like CPO deals with shafts;

 

When you place your order, you can add the exact same club type back as a trade in. If you build your own clubs and have shafts laying around, you can pull the upgrade shaft you just got, put the throw away shaft back in, and callaway will take it back as a trade no questions asked.

 

So - you pay $180 for an Apex hybrid above w/ a (normally $200) ventus blue hybrid shaft in it, trade it back in for $120 with free labels back and fourth, and you're left with a Ventus hybrid shaft for like ~$60 less your time spent doing this.

I have definitely done that with the drivers before because it is so simpler with a torx wrench.  But admittedly great deals are harder to find with the driver shafts because CPO tends to account for their value better in most cases.

 

Plus, if you just want to try a different one of their stock shafts, there are times where the sale price can be the same as the trade-in prices, or very close.  Usually you need a 30-40% off on one the 1 or 2 year old models.  And if you are just switching the shaft, then it doesn;t matter if you buy a crappy average condition head to trade right back to them.

This is true. For some reason you can find fairway woods and hybrids only a few dollars more with $300 upcharge shafts, but not drivers. I did find an Epic Speed TD with an AD VR in it for $270 the other week. Traded the head back in with an old shaft for $180 and got the AD VR for like $90 all said and done.

The only item I've had to return due to horrible condition was a set of irons I purchased from their ebay account about 4 years ago.

 

Ever since then I've stayed away from the ebay preowned deals and have stuck to the preowned website.  So far so good for over 15 years on the website.

This is a great way to do it.  I've had some luck finding good deals on eBay for clubs that have upgraded shafts but then had to list the head.  Dealing directly with Callaway as opposed to eBay buyers seems much easier.

Yeah this thread rocks, no doubt thanks to @third-times-a-charm.

 

Now I am going to toy with a ST Max D 12° cranked down and with an Accra TZ6.  Not a thriver but not your standard driver either.  But very likely my ST Max LS 9° with Ventus TR Red is here to stay.

 

Cole, by the way, is the son of former tour pro JL Lewis.  May he rest in peace.

 

The Speed 15° with Diamana RF I for a song via this thread was fantastic today.

Another thing to do with CPO;

 

If you purchase a $300 driver lets say and you dont have any trades - thats fine - place the order normally. If you get any clubs you want to trade in the future 30 days OR you see a club on ebay with a shaft you want to pull or etc within 30 days, you can call CPO and retroactively add the trade to your order and trade it in for the current value from their site. Thats another way to not have to worry about reselling a club and just getting a set value for it when trying to pull a shaft like a Ventus or Tour AD from ebay.

 

I generally have always have something sitting in my past purchases I didnt have a full trade for, so if I see a fairway on ebay with a upcharge shaft I want I'll just do this with it and get the money back for the club and be left with like a 60$ shaft.

I got one early a few years ago - that year was probably the best sale I can recall. But nothing yet this year.
