Fake ads on Facebook

There have been a number of fake ads on face book taking you to scam sites with deals that are too good to be true, so do be careful!

That said I saw the ad below which I am skeptical is legit and I had to share it because of the ad text - (comments added below it for fun)

I got so many of those ads (golf and non golf) in my timeline that helped me make the decision that Facebook was not worth it. I ended up deleting my account and do not missing being on it.

What's worse is all of those clubs listed for $500 or less, and then you click on the listing and it says "Actual price is $950" (or similar). Sometimes the person even includes something along the lines of "I just wanted more people to see this listing." Apparently, FB's model is that lower priced ads get broader distributions.

But seriously, what kind of @sshole thinks someone will buy from them with that stunt?

Not to defend the scammy ad, but I think that is their way of saying "we are shutting from COVID" without saying COVID so the average person kind of puts two and two together without them actually coming out and saying it. However, if the average golfer was smart, they would realize golf has been in a huge COVID boom so if you lost money during the hottest golf market since the Tiger boom you're really doing something wrong.

A lot of social media sites now are really scrutinizing verified accounts, businesses, etc., on popular topics such as COVID, Russia/Ukraine War, and so on, due to the huge disinformation campaigns and "fake news" that swirl around these hot topics.
