Mevo+ initial setup and registration - tips and tricks thread

This is covered by a few folks in the big mevo+ thread but it's buried in the thread. Wanted to start a thread to help folks with initial setup and registration.

 

Tip 1 - the mevo+ basically acts like a router. It connects to your phone via a wifi connection. But that disconnects your phone/tablet from your home wifi. What happens here is that you get the device and fs golf app linked but you can't register the device or software. Device/software registration requires an internet connection and while the mevo+ is connected to your phone or tablet, you can't get to the internet. You have to toggle between device wifi connection and your home wifi connection. Doing this toggling leads to inconsistent mevo+ and phone/tablet connection. Be patient and keep at it. I even had to reboot my mevo+ a couple times during this process as I toggled between connections.

 

Tip2 - watch this video. It is a very good teach on how to align the device and set the distance settings. I've found that a 3' long piece of pvc pipe, stuck in the ground about a foot in front of your net works best to help align the device outdoors. Alignment sticks are just really hard to see in the target alignment screen in fs golf.

 

 

Tip 3 - if you are hitting OUTDOORS into a net you have to set the device to "short indoor" or "indoor' or it won't pickup shots hit. Short indoor is if you only have about 8 feet from ball to net. 

 

Tip 4 - the app will show you whether the device is setup with the right read angles. The roll and angle measures have to be green for the device to be ready to read shots.

 

Tip 5 - the device CANNOT sit higher than the ball and should be no lower than 3 inches below ball level.

 

Tip 6 - if you are 150+ ballspeed with any club, expect to see misreads on spin. The device just doesn't have enough time to read ball spin to get accurate info at higher ballspeeds. 

 

Tip 7 - use the "ball origin" in radar settings to show if the ball is within range of the device's read area. Go to radar settings, radar setup, ball origin and hit a ball. The app will show you where the ball is in relation to target line of the device. As long as you're in the circle, the device will read the shot.
