World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba 2022

The third to last official PGA Tour event of the year tees up this week as they head to Mexico for the 2022 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba. Viktor Hovland heads into the event as the two time defending champion having collected the spoils in 2020 and 2020 - back to back winners are rare, three-peats are even rarer with the last coming courtesy of Steve Stricker in 2009-2011. Hovland who hit the heights of world number 3 after a will earlier in the year in Dubai has fallen away somewhat with six Top 10's and no wins being joined by three missed cuts. He will have now fromer world number 1 Scottie Scheffler and 9th ranked Collin Morikawa to compete against this week along with a mix of Tour regulars like Billy Horschel, Tony Finau and Justin Rose.

El Cameleon can get a bit breezy.  I'll say stay with the hot hand in Seamus Power.

It will be interesting to see if and how much the TD/TS/hurricane hitting the Yucatan early week impacts the tournament.   Could be very wet or may track far enough south so no impact at all.

I think had he tried to hit a ball, it would have gone much the way of Jackie Chiles' poor decision in the court room.

beautiful course and great field.  i love that area, my wife and i vacationed there at a resort a couple doors down.  would have loved to play the course.

The JJ Abrams Star Trek movie made in 2009 is probably the best Star Trek movie ever made.  I'll be quiet now.

So Henley was 9:1 after round 1 and I wanted to bet him but couldn't get to it in time. Now he's basically 1:1. I think he's a lock at this point with the chasers.

That said, I like the numbers on Kizzire at 22:1. Gordon is 8:1, Ryder is 10:1, and they're both way too short for me there.

Speaking of short, Harman is 18:1, and he's a guy I love to watch and who kills it week in and week out, but I can't see him banging out the win. It's like he's always close but never quite.

Kizzire has been rock solid with the flat stick. Might not be a bad play. Henley has just looked so locked in

After day 1 Henley was 9:1 and nobody of note at the top. I wanted to bet him that day but couldn't get to it. So by morning of day three he'd shrunk to 1:1 and Kizzire was 22:1. Figured it was a lost $30, but the number was v attractive.

Listening on radio. Only scenario I can see is if Henley just doesn't have control of his tee ball all of a sudden. If the close guys come out of the gate with birdies and he bogeys 1 or 2, it gets a lot more interesting.
