Agree, the G430 LST had a nice deep thwack.  Not tingy/pingy at all.  Really addictive to hit.  I had the TSi3 and went back to the G400 which I have a lot of comfort with.  Had my heart set on a TSR2 but the LST has entered the chat...

Hi just thought I'd share my thoughts on the new Ping G430. Hit everything from driver to fw, hybrids n irons.

Driver swing speed on Trackman at last months Titleist Performance fitting 105-110mph. Spin 1800-2000 with tsr3 n pro v1x. Neutral face to path and 3-5 up.

The first thing on the driver when I hit it was it a very deep muted "thwack" instead of the classic Ping "ting". It doesn't feel hot but I think I picked up 2-4mph ballspeed vs my g425lst. On the range the ball definitely carried longer than my g425lst. I thought it lost the Ping feel to it. It performed well and I hit it fairly straight with the new tour 2.0 matte silver shaft but having owned every Ping driver since G15, this felt very un-Ping like to me.

The lst visually looks smaller n better to me and the Max looks less "large/big" vs g425 max. The crown looks pretty busy and the face looks visually smallish with alot of lines, I prefer clean simple face, but that's me.

Hit 3 drives on trackman for the longest drive challenge and clocked 290-300yards for all 3. One draw the other 2 dead straight. I mean it's a good driver but just wasn't what I mentally had in mind when I went for a new Ping driver, feel wise.

Fairways looked like it had more camber instead of flat flat sole which I like cause I hit down n take divots. Fairways and hybrids felt OK, sticking with g425 max fw. Scheduled a fitting session with Ping so will prob get a better feel for the g430 range then with proper shaft and trackman numbers.

Irons impressed me the most. While it looked a little chunky n busy but it downright was easy to launch, high, long, straight. I hate a left miss and all the shots was straight to a baby 5 yard draw, very stable n repeatable ball flight n shape which is what you want to score on course. I play 2 flat and bend my irons weak do the standard black dot to hit it that straight was promising.

My TSR3 felt better, but will get  g430 lst to see how it stacks against the tsr3 in the medium to long run. But the tsr3 looks hard to beat right now.

Could you compare the new 430 irons to lets say the ping IE1 irons in terms of size?

Don't have them side by side but it's been a long time since I hit the ie1, so don't want to give you the wrong info. Best to Google and check to be sure. But it's an iron that def got my attention. Was looking at the Mizuno 923 hot metal pro.

I used to play ie1 and have seen the g430’s in person (haven’t hit them or put them side by side) but would say g430 is definitely bigger not bad bigger but a bigger footprint

and with the lofts with be longer as well.

I left the iE1 for P790's.  I was impressed with the P790 distance, but dispersion has been bad.  The i210 was going away and now the i230 is back.  I was gong to wait for G430 but have not been able to get over the chunkiness of the G series yet, but found the i230 was very consistent and just ordered a set.  Bye to the P790, and excited to be back with Ping.  I probably hit 10 shafts in testing the P790 to fix dispersion and could not, as an FYI.  OTi shafts for me

How was sound/feel on the g430 iron vs g400/425? Is it still clicky and hollow, or have they done a better job with that?

I think shafts play a big role in feel n feedback, I think they had the NS Pro 950 in them so it naturally would feel softer compared to if u put a PX 6.5 in them. I mean its still a cast iron and will never feel Forged Soft, but it's less clicky and has more feel to it. But for me if I can have that peak height and distance + dispersion, I can compromise on feel.

Just to share the nearest the Pin trackman challenge on an island green was set at 170yards. My first shot I took the g430 8 iron and flew the green, so the Ping rep passed me 9 iron for my remaining 2 shots and hit them 5 feet short. Just a comparison I'm using PXG Gen4 0311XP, 2 flat and 2 week with OTi 95s shafts at 0.5inch short at D4. My 170yard with PXG would be a 8 iron. I duno what the g430 8 iron loft or the shaft length for the demo club but it was 1 club longer than my pxg that's bent 2 weak and 0.5inch shorter.

Just my opinion if ur looking for an upgrade from your PXGs if u get the loft n lie n shaft fitted properly, I can see these as genuine pin seeker/scoring clubs with those height, carry, descent angle and accuracy. If looks not an issue for you and you just want a set that helps u score your best. I'm currently at a stage where I'm less concern about brand and looks. I just want 14 clubs that perform the best for me help me shoot my lowest possible score.

I played g25 irons for over 10 years. I don’t have an issue with looks, but I’m very sensative to sound/feel. I also prefer a longer blade heel to toe as it frames the ball better for me, and also found it protects against the face rotating too fast.

I'm excited to hit the G430 drivers.  What is the deal with the iron lofts tho?  Things have gone off the rails.  I had G15 irons.  PW was 45°.  Now it's 41°?????  The "retro" spec 4 iron is the same loft as the G15 3 iron!  Very odd.  These must be super low CG.

Interesting to hear those thoughts on sound. I thought the 410 was meh sound wise, and then the 425lst was really bad sound wise, I can't imagine the 430 being even worse. That's why the 400LST is still the goat, the sound was fine tuned with geoacoustics to make you want to smash it

Can you give a comparison between the 430 max and 400 max?

I still own 2 Ping g400max 9 head and a ping g400 9 head. Haven't hit them in a while but the g400 range prob would go down as a classic. I honestly hit like 6-8 balls with the g430 Max I thought it feels more solid sounding and less draw biased than my g400 max but my swing prob have changed and shafts were different, but year feels more solid n muted and less draw biased would be the first two things that comes to my mind. G400 head less busy n cleaner too.
