PGAT stats need and asterisk and footnote

I think we're all missing a pretty basic thing, if the tour paid their web developers as well as they did players through 2021, the website was probably made by a temp on loan from a local college

This might explain why it's tough to navigate.

It doesn't seem they've removed anyone permanently, just the filters don't work as well as you'd think.

Whachu mean, he’s entire history is there

And the lifetime money list

As I said, Monahan has removed Phil and DJ from the PGA career earnings list.  He is a vindictive little man.  This is from the PGAT website.

What no 1984 reference?

I don’t know the distinction between earnings and money leaders but they are far from scrubbed. And yes the PGA site can be very tedious, though they do have a lot of interesting stats.

So, does that mean they should erase his history as if he never played the PGAT?

Or maybe they should change the name of the stats to "Career Money Leaders for Players who have not resigned from the PGAT".

History is history.  Monahan is a vindictive man that has destroyed the PGAT.

Disagree. What is he supposed to do? Welcome his Sa udi overlords?  He is defending his turf and doing, I think, a pretty good job.

But this issue specifically is unrelated and simply down to a lack of appreciation, on your part, for the difference between two lists.

The career earnings list still includes all players who have ever eared any money. Weather they are former, current, or never members.

The "money list" is players who are members or former members (retired, skills didn't hold up, whatever) in good standing who may receive certain benefits from being at a certain level on the "money list". I think above a certain level you get exemptions of various sorts. Non members would be ineligible for these and should also not displace members who *are* eligible.

Comparing Mickelson to Winston Smith is a bit bizarre.  Ref instead the pigs who announced themselves a little more equal than the other animals, and there you have Mr. Mickelson.

He not only quit the Tour, but attacked it rather vigorously, and they responded.  Freedom doesn’t include the right to poke someone in the eye (metaphorically in this case, and I guess “bite the hand that feeds” you would be better) and not have them respond.

People who sympathize with him (who knows why) don’t like the response.

A technical question here is whether the man’s change of status vis a vis the Tour from 2022 to 2023 justifies or even requires him showing up in the former list but not the latter.  It may well do exactly that.  I would guess the other guys on the list are lifetime members of the Tour (earnings leaders would tend to be, wouldn’t they?) and Mickelson was in 2022 but for the 2023 season he is not…because he quit.

IMO it simply doesn’t matter because he quit the organization and it can treat him in any lawful way it wants.  It can make whatever fine distinctions it wants in how to report things.  To repeat, he quit, and forfeited any claim he may have had to any particular sort of treatment by the Tour.  It is certainly under no obligation to him to publicize his achievements.

How about competing?   Good business leaders compete.  They don't ban people.  And after banning players he then followed LIV with several PGAT changes that look like LIV.  However, one change they are making is a bad one.  They have now divided the PGAT into major league events and minor league events.  The unfortunate events that are now considered minor league will struggle with sponsors.

If he had chosen to compete rather than ban players, we would have a much better pro golf world today.  Monihan already had the best pro tour in the history of mankind and competing with LIV would have made the PGAT an even better product. He could have won the battle with LIV by competing.

Monihan is a vindictive little man and I forecast he will be fired within a year.

Not only is he competing he's winning.  Liv doesn't have a marketable product, even after they poached PGA players vs developing their own talent.  Pat will get a raise and bonus for how well he responded to the liv threat.

They were shut down in the first round because golfers aren't interested in the liv format.  I'm still not sure who the market is for the liv attendance and broadcast audience but I'm pretty sure it's not people who play golf.
