“Fat Perez” & Max Homa

[Yuck]

Watched a YouTube video this week with a 3 vs 1 scramble featuring Max Homa vs 3 “average joe” golfers.  Homa was impressive, but one of the Am’s “Fat Perez” was surprisingly decent.  Actually a pretty entertaining match.

I do love 'Bob Does Sports', it's become one of my favorite channels. Fairways and Coldcuts are actually enjoyable to watch, not like Foreplay and Fat Perez is actually quite good.

FP is around scratch, always solid off the tee and with the approach shots. Max's game was just incredibly dialed the whole way through. They do 3 man scrambles all the time and try to beat their low round, they were as good as they get that day and it still wasn't enough haha. Would have loved to have seen that last putt drop.

Does anyone know the first video in which Fat Perez broke out the Euro Step? I just want to see Bob's reaction to the first time seeing it. It cracks me up every time he does it.

Bob Does Sports has been a favorite of mine for some time, and Homa has been my favorite pro for some time as well..

 

This video was god-send. Everything it needed to be. I am EXACTLY Cold Cuts on a course.

That was the most enjoyable Youtube golf video I've ever seen. Bob Does Sports is always an easy watch. Favorite channels in order:

 

Bob Does Sports / GM Golf (Garrett is up there with Bob for entertainment value)

Grant Horvat (always positive and so consistent)

Random Golf Club

No Laying Up

Good Good (a little obnoxious at times mainly due to the less talented golfers who try to provide entertainment value)

 

... Foreplay at the bottom (Trent is the only one that is likable)

Bob Does Sports is the best channel on youtube. I am also a big fan of their podcast which talked up the Homa match pretty high. Homa is just awesome, I became a fan of his after he knocked off the fore play guys, and his twitter feed is iconic. So I was curious if the match could live up to the hype they put on it, and did it ever.

That is why I cringed when they gave him that gimmie put.  Like...its a 59 to him, but not in the books.  Homa was on fire that round though.

FP is way too corporate now. Half the stuff they do is Taylormade content and every Riggs video is an ad read. I also really like Random Golf Club's stuff with Erik Anders Lang.

Foreplay is trash. I was a fan of Riggs but he is way too corporate now and the constant fluffing of Kiz/Ain't no hobby is a joke. In person they are super arrogant and full of themselves. Frankie is incredibly annoying. 

 

Bob does Sports is great and Fat Perez is awesome. He played in college so no surprise that he can play. They are a good change of pace.

Huge fan of Bob and his crew. The channel is great and the guys seem like generally fun and friendly.

 

Fat Perez is a quality player.

I've heard Trent is actually super nice in person just an introvert. He sucks at golf but I love the breaking series because he's just a normal guy who sucks at golf

I have no doubt he would have hit it.  But as tight as golf is, that card wouldn't count.

Now that you mention it my friend didn't say anything about Trent. He just said the other 3 were so full of them selves they didn't say one word to him. They played 18 holes and hung out at Perez house for hours after. He said they were super awkward in person.

Never understood why people want to watch people shoot 100+ on youtube. If you want to see that, you can go watch in person at your local course. 

 

Actually I kind of feel like the Barstool crew is an embarrassment to the game of golf. But I guess they are "growing the game".

 

At least the guys on "Good Good" can play golf.

His tirade about buying all new clubs after skulling that wedge over the green was definitely either a highlight or infuriating depending on what you enjoy watching 😄

I'd like to see some sort of a coaching series where they make a sincere effort to get up to FP's level. I think Bob could do it, he seems bright and isn't doing anything weird in his swing that couldn't be smoothed out. Cuts on the other hand is likely a lost cause, lol. Anyone that swings as wildly as he does would be hard to rein in, especially since he doesn't seem like the brightest bulb.

Homa is so sick though, just absolute auto pilot out there.

This was my only gripe about the video. Otherwise it was amazing. FP played his absolute a** off - especially draining those long must make putts. But if Max made that putt for a 59 they would’ve went nuts, and all I could think about is how it wouldn’t have been official.

 

And Foreplay is unwatchable. I can’t even imagine listening to their podcast. And I thought I liked Dan Rappaport, but he’s become insufferable.

Bob and FP were on the Sub Par Podcast recently and it was a really good episode just makes them more likeable.

 

Also Fat Perez gives guys like me hope to be a good golfer.
