Seniors using lightweight driver, has it helped your game?

Since I'm playing Driver at 3 wood length, I'm running a Tensei CK Orange 65g. I get a better feel for the clubhead and more solid strikes with the shorter length. 72 and no where close to shooting my age!

I'll second most of this.  

It's a complicated subject, to me, so I'll pass over lots of factors.  My longest driver is my 1st gen 253cc Hawkeye metalhead (titanium face, I think).  It's a whisker short of 44", Reg Flex, and 304g total weight.  I don't miss a fairway off the tee.  I attribute that to the shorter than "standard" length.  It's just a whisker longer (3-5 yds) than my 43" 1st Flight laminated, steel shafted, RF, driver weighing 370g.  I obey my internal swing clock, so I feel like I swing them both at the same speed (~83 mph), and the extra weight of the 1st Flight makes up for the slightly shorter shaft and the slightly reduced CoR.  Don't miss the fairways with that, either.  Or I could be out of my mind about the whys and wherefores, and perhaps I hit the fairways regularly as a result of controlling my swing (and speed). 

I have a couple metalheads with 45" shafts, but I don't play them, currently. 

And BTW, I'm not shooting close to Willie's age, either .   

 

So, to the question.  Has it helped my game?  Not yet, but my game is based on hitting wooden woods, with either graphite or steel shafts.  I only hit the metalheads under threat of rain.  The plan, though, is to move into the more flexible shafts as I continue to age and shed muscle mass (who needs that stuff, anyway?).  The 304g RF Hawkeye has a 44" brother in A Flex waiting in the wings, weighing in at 301g, but it didn't outhit the RF Hawkeye in test rounds this year (as it shouldn't have).

Seniors will definitely benefit from a light driver, just have to find the right one.  I have tensei 55 stiff, rogue st, low spin.

Yes. 74 years. Index 13.3. XXIO Prime, 36g shaft, 46". Didn't think i could handle that length but good so far. Average distance 225, FIR 86. Very happy with it.

For me a lightweight driver has produced modest distance gains without sacrificing much in the way of dispersion. But the real benefit has been reflected in my increased energy level towards the end of the round.
