Plumber’s neck mallet that sits square?

Title says it!  I’ve been using an Odyssey OG7 CH and one thing that bothers me is that it cocks open just a tad as I set it down at address.  Can y’all recommend a mallet-style putter that will set up square from address?  I use the plumbers neck because for some reason it aligns my eyes and shoulders to the line naturally, other styles put me off.  Thanks!

No suggestions on a putter however I will say I would rather a putter sit a fraction open than sit closed. My X5 Knuckleneck Custom sits open a degree or two when grounded but perfectly square when I take my grip.

I've posed this question before in the past and I don't believe you're going to get a definitive answer. In my experience, open/square/closed is very subjective and all in the eye of the beholder. For me, a putter that sits square to my eye would be open to a lot of other players and a putter that sits closed to my eye would be square to others. In fact, I've also owned an OG 7 CH and it sat closed to me. That's just my opinion. Your best bet is to just go somewhere and look at a bunch of plumbers neck mallets and see what looks best.

Have the loft increase by a degree. Clubs bent to have more loft will play more closed when grounded. If you work with the pro who is bending it they can get it set to feel square. 

 

As others have said square can be very subjective as it's based on your eye line and eye dominance. The putter  could sit perfectly square but to you look off.

Hover the putter, don't set it on the ground at address. That's a bad habit. 

 

This will have many benefits, including your aim no longer being dependent on whether the putting green is dead level in the spot from which you are putting.

@sbrooke If it doesn't sit square, your lie angle is not correct for your stance.  Most likely it is a little upright so you would need it a degree or so flatter.  Easy enough to do with a plumber's neck putter.

Don't forget about where the COG is located on a mallet, it's further back and will want to open or close. Add in a heavy plumbers neck and that will cause it even more.

Cleveland Classic Huntington Beach #10.  Not sure they still make it.  I've putted with one for years and found a backup last year when I realized they weren't making a version of it anymore.

That the toe is primarily contacting the ground as opposed to the center of the sole, and the face will sit open.  Conversely, if the heel is the primary contact, the face will close when the club is set.  The lie angle is incorrect and needs to be adjusted.  Likely a little more upright or adjust the position of the putter (slightly further away).

And you need to always putt from a dead level spot on the putting green.

adjust loft and it will sit square
