LA Golf: Ball Announcement

Several weeks ago I received an email from LA Golf announcing a new golf ball offering from the company. It was a pretty detailed marketing piece with design imagery and spec's. It also included a trial offer. I responded to the trial as instructed but the LA Golf website did not provide a trial application and there was no information about a new ball offering. I made a follow on inquiry to the company but have not heard back. It was not a spoof because the website provided was LA Golf's actual US website address. Does anyone have any information about a new ball offering from LA Golf, and/or receive a similar email? Curious minds want to know!

I signed up as well and never heard back. It makes me wonder if they are just trying to gauge demand.

The link still appears.  There is no way they are going to produce their own ball.  This will 100% be outsourced like most smaller brand balls.  With little to no quality control.  The TM Stealth available on their site is an interesting addition.

Here is the description. I decided to order a box - $15 isn't free, but it's a lot cheaper than my usual golf ball. It does say that it's not USGA confirming yet, but I'm not planning to play it in a tournament, so not a big deal.

Got em. As others have said, you still need to pay $15 for shipping. But 15 bucks shipped to door is a decent price for a *hopefully* premium dozen.

I received my box of prototype balls from LA Golf. I have only hit a few putts indoors so far, but the feel is very similar to my Pro V1s. As always, many promising claims from LA Golf, so I will test them to see if anything stands out. 

I’m not a fan of the red text and the company address, at first glance. However, some of that may be due to the prototype phase.

Hopefully they hired a designer to put a better logo/markings on an actual production version. That generic font/stamping is hideous.

Haven’t had a chance to test or take to the course but just by bouncing it on my wedge it feels fairly soft.  It’s slightly firmer than the new Mizuno RB tour but not nearly as firm as a Prov1x.  I’m intrigued on how it’ll perform on course.  Hopefully someone has had a chance to properly test it

I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but this is perfect. I really hope this is just for the testing phase. But let’s be honest… if there is one company that would put golf balls out like this, it is LAGP

Hit a few putts on my putting mat in my office and so far I like the feel. Produces more of a tock off my scotty phantom 7.5 similar to as mentioned above a Pro V1.  I have indoor golf league this week and will try to get some data points on the Full Swing launch monitor they have.  As with everything LA Golf, I'm sure they will charge boutique prices if this ball every sees general production.  They will charge left dot prices before the balls ever hit the secondary market.  lol

My dozen just showed up.  Was a little surprised at the Beverly Hills 90210 stamping vs. an alignment aid.  My expectations are very low here considering these are made in Taiwan in a ball factory that likely produces balls for a dozen different companies.  Hoping they play more like a premium ball than they look.

TM balls come from Taiwan. No issues with quality.

Played with this ball yesterday. Played well, nothing special from what I can see. Not longer than any other ball. What I will say is that it was very durable and it was softer in feel, something like an AVX. Logo and markings on it make it look like a cheap old pinnacle gold or some ball like that. 

 

Hit some spinny pitch shots with it. flew just fine. just never thought it was special in any way.

TM makes most of their high end balls in South Carolina within their own facility.  There is a reason companies don't outsource ball production to contract manufacturers.  They lose a great deal of control over quality and consistency.  Callaway spent $50mm to improve their processes in Massachusetts after the quality of their balls were exposed.  Srixon, Titleist, Callaway, TM, and Bridgestone make most of their own balls.  Most all other balls come from a few manufacturing plants around the world.
