Bethpage Help!

Just a couple of questions. I have done quite a bit of research and want to make sure I have it correct..

We are looking at playing late July on a Saturday morning at Bethpage Black. Online system is a lottery's chance for out of state so figured we would spend the night. There are four of us.. Here are my questions..

1) Is arriving at 1:30p/2p on Friday afternoon early enough for a Saturday morning tee time?

2) Two of us are planning to spend the night in the parking lot with the other two accompanying us by 3:30a. Is this ok?

3) Will there be caddies waiting on Saturday morning? Anything we need to do in advance if we want a caddy?

You have a good chance of catching an online time if you are really diligent.  Otherwise, camping out is your best bet. I will let others ch8me in but I doubt you need to be there that early on Friday. A lot of people camp out for tee times at the other courses that allow carts.  Caddies should be available but you may want to call ahead of time to find out details.

as a non-resident the chances of catching a 4 person tee time is like .0000001% in the middle of summer because almost no one will drop that. Camping out is really their only chances.

So, it’s tamed a bit since I was a kid.  Don’t leave your car alone.  Back in the day Tires would be slashed for anyone parking their car and showing up at 5am to get in line.  2pm seems a bit early in my opinion.  Would think 5pm is ok.

you do have a better shot doing a weekday rather than weekend on reservation system.  Might even get to play 36 Black and Red.  Don’t sleep on the red it’s a great track as they play LPGA event there.

4-6pm is fine. When I sometime do an afternoon Friday tee time, when I leave around 4-6pm I usually see 2-3 cars lined up.

I've never used one but you can go into the shop and request a caddie after you get a tee time. I always see caddies waiting around the clock by the entrance where you go in to pay so it shouldn't be a problem.  The greens are fast but don't have a lot of sneaky break to them, just uphill and downhill, preferably uphill. Getting on the green is the challenge for most.

It'll be tough to get a 4ball on a Saturday in July. Good luck!

Are you sure about the LPGA events there? 🤔

It’s been 30 years since I’ve lived on LI and it’s been 20 years since I remember there being an event on the Bethpage Red.  Maybe it was a pro-am.

maybe I’m confusing it with Eisenhower Red which held events.  Either way it’s a good track.

Eisenhower hasn't held an event since like the 30s. Not sure how many of us here were alive for that.

The Commerce Bank Championship on the Senior Tour was held at Eisenhower Red. The last time it was held was in 2008. Loren Roberts won that year. It was pretty interesting to watch the seniors play on a course that I had played many times.
