Royal Collection still makes clubs. Google it. You'll find them in Japan.

Yeah, I know, but Sonartec has been relegated to a component company now and a shell of what they were 15-20 years ago.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Couldn't speak to today's quality of components from Royal Collection. Just making sure you knew they were out there, they are the Parent Company of the former. I had Sonartec Hybrids in the 'Duval Era'. Great sticks for their place in History.

Sooooo......

If you want Retro Sonartec with modern day quality and specs, check out A Design A-Grind. Story is, one of the original Sonartec Gents broke off some 10-15 years ago, and started A Design A-Grind. Another Japanese Company. Outside of the one gentleman, the Founder, there are no ties between Royal Collection and A Design A-Grind.

Now. A-Grind I can speak to, and the quality and specs are superb. Check it out, if you haven't already.

I need you to be quiet. My Royal Collection 4wd is money in the bank. Imagine if you will a solid 250-260 yard club for any occasion, that can be knocked down to 230-240 or stepped on for around 275. It's either string straight every time or know more than a 5 yard cut.

@Christen_The_Sloop Do you know/remember whether the Royal Collection's feel = similar/ better vs the Sonartecs? eg the NP99?

I had a previous version to that one there Sonartec and it was really nice. All I know is that the one I am bagging now is the best feeling club I have in my bag, and probably my most dependable. Exact model is BBD V7 Ti 17 degree. I found it used with an Attas V7 7X. I picked up the same hybrid and I am going to try it with a Diamana Thump i465X. And the A-grinds mentioned earlier are really nice too. I've been looking at a few A grind driving irons.

They did a 1000 set (or so) release a few years ago...

I didn't bag a set, so I need them to do a more generous release that won't all end up unhit and displayed on walls.

Getter done. Brand new in the plastic. And with the yen the way it is... You'd be foolish not to.

thanks @Christen_The_Sloop. I recently bought a used-but-very-good-condition 7-wood (20*/21*?) Sonartec NP99 for about US$12.  Very solid-feeling (albeit the Aldila NV shaft it came with is a bit light at ~55grams... easily changed).

Using a number pulled out of the air...   it's rather amazing, isn't it?

I've written it before but it bears repeating that Eye2s with milled & conforming grooves, moderately less offset, modern lofts, heavier head weights via tungsten, and a variety of nice shaft & grip options would be awesome.

Why the need to change the lofts ?

A big appeal of the Eye 2’s is the set wedges are fantastic. No need for the armada of add on wedges , unlike now when folks have sets ending with a 38 or low 40’s degree pitching wedge.

Otherwise I agree a reissue with less offset would be nice. I don’t know enough to speak about head weight.

I think modern lofts might appeal to a wider audience.  However, that could be a 48* PW, 54* SW, and 60* LW and give the set a 2* +/- adjustment.

@Christen_The_Sloop is this= the Royal Collection fairway you mentioned? Looks higher-end.

Corded Tour wrap grips

Beat me to this one! 🙂  I send a note at least once a year to Golf Pride asking for the Full Cord Tour Wraps to be re-released.  Stenson still plays them (IIRC) so they may still be making a few.

I have worn OEM Titleist corded grips. refuse to change them. Hard to even buy the Corded Velvet's too. Don't get it those old corded wraps were the best.
