Roast my Trackman Numbers (Does anything stand out?)

jdarlin

Recommended Posts

I had the opportunity to do a short Trackman session and go through a few shots with all the clubs in my bag, which are current on my signature.

This was taken indoors, with 2021 Pro V1s.

Does anything stand out? My guess is that driver height and strike consistency/ball speed is a bit off across the board and mid to short iron spin is lower than I'd like to see.

I'd appreciate any other feedback as I look to optimize my practice plan and bag composition for next season.

Thanks!

I think you need to have more shots with the irons to make any conclusions.

Gapping might be a little off with a couple of them.

Was this indoors or outdoors? Ball used?

Agreed, this was less than a 30 minutes session, indoors, with a 2021 Pro V1. I’m curious if a high launch, high spinning ball might be good for me.

I excluded any crazy mishits, the shots recorded are pretty close to what I’d expect on the course.

Indoors you need to use the RCT balls or the spin readings, and any carry distances that the S/W calculates, will be off.

ALWAYS tell what conditions
- Indoor or Outdoor?
- From a math or turf?
- Your gamer ball or a range ball?

Since i had no info about that, all i looked at was your PW to Driver carry ratio, and you are a little short with the driver, but you have not maximized your ball speed either.

PW carry (loft 46-48*) x 2 to 2.03 = driver carry
Your factor is 1.97  (you loose about 7 yards average...no disaster, but improvements can make it "one club shorter in")

indoor, or from a matt, launch goes up, spin goes down...who can extend PW carry

but without knowing conditions, its not worth it to analyze any deeper

The mat i used in my studio, had a average offset factor to tee turf of 1.0 on launch (higher), and 800 Rpm spin lower (Mitchell golf fitting mat, one of the better). This was for the typical PGA level with a #6 iron speed in the low 90's, using GAMER balls. (Irons)

@jdarlin What is your handicap index?  Do you play competitively?  Are you looking to simply have good numbers on a graph OR take more money off your playing partners?

Joking aside, your set is VERY playable.  I'd recommend a tweak to your driver and add a click more loft (unsure of Mizuno's loft settings) as you could use a bit more spin for consistency.  Other than that to "optimize your practice plan" spend 75% of your practice time on the short game and putting!!!

Thanks for that reply! My current index is a 7.7.

As a father of two young kids, my goal is just to be the best player in my usual groupings of family and friends. I truly love practicing as much as playing, but should probably learn to love practicing the short game more, specifically putting and pitching.

You're probably right on the driver loft - I traditionally played 10.5* drivers and will go back to that soon.

Perfect.  Avoid "paralysis by analysis"!!!

Sounds like you already now what you need to do... add some loft to your driver and bring out your inner-creative-self with that short game!
