Grip Size and proper wrist set?

For some time I have struggled with a late and overset of my wrist.  For some time I’ve also used mid-size grips. 
 

I haven’t always struggled with the issue nor have I always used mid-size grips.  Based on my hand/glove size (ML) wouldn’t need mid-size, they have just always felt good to me.

 

In thinking about it my grip may not be as secure as it should be. Often gripping too lightly. 
 

I like Plus 4’s just fine but actually like the feel of the thicker mid-size in the top hand. 
 

I realize this wouldn’t be the sole cause of my issue but maybe a contributing factor. 
 

Anyone with similar experiences?

Not to speak to your particular problem, but every golf book I have ever read and scores of sources on the internet say having the proper grip size is crucial.

 

So, it may be important.

 

Size charts are meaningless, IMO.  I found that the near universal advice that the grips be of a size that the fingers just touch the palm to be good advice.   This could well mean you need grips larger than you are used to, you might think proper grips ridiculously large, I did at first.  
 

If your grips meet this advice, chances are your problem lies not in your grip size.

 

Some teachers in the backward way that teachers of golf tend to have seem to automatically recommend smaller grips to fight a slice or whatever.  This is however a harmful attempt at compensation rather than a cure, particularly insidious if it leaves you unable to control the club.

I have played both mid and reg sized grips, predominantly with regular in recent timeframe.

 

I have a very tight grip and strangle the club quite often. I don't have the confidence in a light grip and i also feel like there is too much movement introduced that the club can waggle during movement, particularly since i swing fairly fast. I have tried to grip lighter and i find, as i mention some movement, or slip, which i feel will result in a similar situation to what you explain.

 

I wouldn't think mid-size grip is related to cause your issue, even when the timing fits together from symptom to your change.

I find the mid size grip actually allows better comfort for a tighter grip, because there is more padding or dampening, meaning you're able to sustain it without reverb and at least for me, brings more confidence in holding and swinging the club ighter and faster.

 

What is actually the result / impact / problem you suffer from this late oversetting ? sounds like a "hold off" or push to the right ?

I've had the opposite and feel like I have better feel and control with mid-size over standard, and I wear a small glove.  Hard for me to imagine how the difference between a standard and mid-size grip could contribute to the problems you noted, but psychology plays a big role in the golf game, so who knows.
