PXG Gen6? When?

PXG was originally on a Ping-like schedule of only release when we have a clear winner.  Gen1 and Gen2 were around for quite a while.  It seems at the launch of Gen3 around late 2019 they have really ramped up the speed of development. It wouldn't surprise me to see Gen6 come about for a spring release this year.

PXG fitting rep's probably don't know anything but the one I know said Gen5s are going to be around a while. He said there may be some different products in the pipeline like woods and putters but he didn't expect any new irons until late 2023.

Yeah, I've been doing some homework and found Gen6 is tentatively scheduled for release at the end of Q1 '23. Supposedly, they look similar to the Gen5, but instead of the two black tungsten parts on the heel/toe, there is a solid bar across the bottom of the club. Sounds interesting. Can't wait to get them either way, as every iteration of the T irons has outperformed the previous version for me.

I’ll be watching and waiting for sure. I have a set of Gen5 Ts and Ping i230s right now. Same shaft. The 230s have made me appreciate how good the PXGs really are. Always been in Ping irons and dabbled in PXG. It’s to the point now where I can’t go back to the Pings. We’ll see how it all plays out but after a few rounds with the 230s, the Gen5s are back in the bag.

Digging deep into their acquired Nike patents for the slingshot technology. Is that a good thing?

One thing I wish would change is the finish in that I’d just prefer the clubhead to be one color. I have the Gen 5 in the black finish and cannot stand that the toe and heel are finished in the satin/chrome. I understand why they do it but wish that it was just one finish. I have played the Gen 3s and 5s and if this release date is correct, I’ll pry need to try to convince myself to just hold off and play one or two models behind.

 

As a club ho, it can be frustrating to see all the pricing games PXG plays and shortly after, people (suckers) like me, pay full price on a pre-release order and then the prices quickly drop. Then, they come out with a new iron the next year which further reduces resale value. I understand most players aren’t like me and buying new crap all the time, so I’m sure I’m the minority of those in the market.

The way PXG is putting their equipment on sale is great for consumers but to ever go out and pay full price for anything from PXG is not very wise as those Gen 6's will come down in price within 6 months so why not just wait. Everything new for next year is basically just cosmetics as performance is all pretty much maxed out. The only think I wish more brands would do is come out with some better shafts selections at a reasonable price.

I've had every 0311 generation so far (in various combo sets),  but don't see myself buying the Gen 6.  

I'm really in love with the Gen 5 XP/P/T mixed set I currently have.

I'm really surprised pxg doesn't carry all the MMT shafts because it's a stock offering.

Not much to add, but Just golfed with my buddy today who is on staff with PXG and knows Bob pretty well. He said he was told to expect Gen 6 early to mid next year. Don’t have any details beyond that yet but I always ask.

I will say for me personally, there was a significant improvement from Gen 4-Gen 5 so I have to believe Gen 6 will be nice.  Have to see but PXG is just killing me now.....

I spoke on the phone with someone at PXG yesterday, inquiring about how long Gen 5 drivers were on sale for.  They said thru 1/3 but then there’s likely another sale in the early spring when Gen 6 releases

In the woods I completely agree, but I have the gen4 STs and I just don't see them leaving the bag anytime soon

Would really be surprised if it was a golf ball(s). Parsons has been asked about it several times but has always stated that he couldn't make a better ball than the Pro V. But then again he is Bob Parson.

I think it was probablyy closer to 6 or 7, I went for a fitting in early June and they had been out for a month or so I believe.

They prolly will launch in Mar, release in Jun, and going into "clearance sale" mode in Oct (don't get me wrong, I think it's an amazing thing that they will be much more affordable than any other premium irons by Oct 2023)
