Yeah, just rub some dirt on it and walk it off.

I have had a flare up so bad once that I couldn’t even walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night, so I get it.

Hard floors and no shoes with inserts is brutal.

Tendon heals a little, you get out of bed and tear it with the first step, feels like a nail just went through your heel.

Sleep with a boot, stretch, custom shoe inserts, quality shoes with a good footbed, etc.  Cortisone shot right in the tendon hurts bad but gives a few days relief.

Mine didn't completely go away until a few months after I retired.  I still stretch every morning and wear quality shoes, hasn't come back.

Hero has to be pissed. Doesn’t plantar fasciitis come from overuse?

Or wearing crappy shoes

Re plantar fasciitis, I've had it before. Had a podiatrist actually tell me to have my wife draw me a warm foot bath every morning so I could soak it and loosen it before the walk from bed to bathroom.

Thought it was funny at first but it would have helped.

Have learned a heating pad does much the same thing. Really improves it. And sleep w warm socks.

Defending champion is eligible as are the current major winners that are PGA Tour members. There are also sponsor exemptions which is how Fleetwood, Kisner and Tiger (were in). Then they go down the OWGR rankings if you are in the top 50 OWGR. Sepp Straka was added to the field since Tiger W/D.

I actually have plantar fasciitis in my right foot at the moment! First time in my life that I know how Tiger feels. It's not pleasant.

The Hero World Challenge has 17 or the world top 25 Players. Does that mean that it should get more OWGR point than any other tournament with less world class players?

Keep in mind it only has 20 or so players, but that doesn't matter, right!?

I trying to use some people's logic here.......help me out.

It’s combined ranking from all of the players playing the event. More OWGR points will be given if there’s more players or more good players.

What planet was HE from???  I could only imagine my wife's response to THAT request.

"Honey, would you mind drawing me a nice, warm foot bath...."

"I'm sorry dear, did you just say you want me to put my nice, warm foot up your a**?"

Exactly, lol.

That answers my previous question then, field size ultimately drives the points.  A field of 20 with 15 of the top 20 would receive less points than a field of 150 with 30 of the top 150 players in it it would seem.

Not sure how I feel about that.  Would think dilution of strength of field would play a slight role.  Would also think you could "play the math" and have larger fields and two cuts to inflate your points awarded if you were inclined.

If I have you correctly, then bigger field would not dilute field quality so long as the original top 15 you mention in the example above remain in the field.

You forgot that there are only 20 or so other players you have to beat so it is easier.  I have seen that logic bandied about.

Field size, to me, matters to an extent.  There is always a chance the "worst" player in the field has a great week and wins.  Might be infinitesimally small but it exists.  I don't buy that 175 players are in a field and "30 of the top 150" makes much of a difference.  I don't know the math for how they figure strength of field, whether it values more middle of the road guys, or whether 5-8 "top" players in the field can drive the number.  Is a tournament with 150 players in it harder for Rory to win than a tournament with only 50 better players in it?  I don't know the answer but I bet "it depends" is part of it.

My post was sarcasm. In golf field size matter a lot. Golfer rarely play their best week to week or round to round. With a field of 156 player anyone can get hot.....Just a matter of math. Tiger may not be the best example but i could give others:

He's won the Hero 5 times and 2nd 5 times with 20 players.

Sure he's won other tournament a lot that's full field, but you get my drift.

I think so.  It appears to be additive not an average of ranking per player or anything like that.

Reminds me of his playoff with 'Phil' at The Match.  Likes he practicing hitting chip wedges to a practice green.

I haven't had that much watching a twitter feed since that video of Tiger and Fred laughing and joking as they left the back surgeon's office in Dusseldorf, Germany.

I always crack up with men who have to throw 'my wife' in there. All of us married men with kids know for God damn sure no wife is going to make you a sitz bath every morning for your little plantar boo boo 😂

As someone used to statistical modelling but without looking at the model these universities came up with, I suspect it’s a near impossibility to arrive at a model to suit all stakeholders.

EG: It seems difficult to cater for new entrants to a tour who have high  achievements in their first few events. Presumably why invitations are extended to a select few new guys on the block. Obtaining an entry to the Masters etc being another difficulty unless a tournament is won early on.

World points is just a type of weighting system such as commonly used when conditions, in say the environment, make simple calculations impossible. An example might be to forecast total allowable catches ( TAC ) for a fish species on the High Seas when fishing effort in previous years is important but hard to measure. Hence the impossibility of perfection. At para 1 above.
