Much better. Did you put a new sole plate on too? I see it looks different to the original (no vertical lines)

If you enlarge picture, appears to still have vertical lines.

No it was painted over.  I discussed that with Ohare.  It was decided that there were too many gouges.  The only option was to paint over the plate.

Looks great! I would love to know how they pulled the insert to reuse.

Thanks for asking, I was thinking about adding details about the insert, but decided not to.  As I stated above, I removed the insert myself.  My experience with TM inserts have always been the aluminum with elastomer between the bars.  When I pulled them in the past it was not pretty, so I’d planned before the project to replace the insert.

To remove it, it simply need a bit of heat.  I soaked the head in about 1/2" of boiling water.  This was to soften the adhesive to remove the insert.  To my surprise, this insert was all plastic.  It pulled out easily, but was bent and distorted from the heat/pull.  Again that was okay as I had already bought a new insert from SpryEvo.  Here is a link to the one I used:  TaylorMade 110 CF Replacement Insert

Once I got the head back, I scuffed the back of the insert with some sand paper and cleaned with solvent, I scuffed the head cavity and cleaned it.  Applied a very thin layer of 3M DP 420, and taped the insert in place till the glue set.

This is my latest project.  Been wanting to try another spider style mallet.  Had one years ago.  Found a pretty beat up model.

I started with pulling the shaft, then removed the insert and weights.

It was then sent it off to O'hare Milling (found them via a recommendation on this site) for cleanup of dents and dings, and an application of flat black cerakote and paint fill. They did a great job!

This is what I started with:

Got it back just after thanksgiving.  I installed a new insert from Spry Evo, a KBS CT Tour black shaft, and some black weights and finally an Edel round grip.  So far it feels great, rolls great, and will knock the Evnroll ER1.2 out of the bag.

Finished product:  I love that blacked out look on my putters.  I am debating about adding some gloss black pin stripe tape for an alignment line, but my first practice with it has been good on alignment.

This looks great, I'm working on a similar project now. Do you know they did the face plate? Paint it and then re-fill the letters?

Look at the post I made just above yours, the insert was replaced.  I bought it from Spry Evo Design and installed it with some black epoxy.

Question on the shaft - what is the total length of the shaft and what bend is it?

thank you, I want to update my daddy long legs putter with a new shaft.

The Spider Tour is a slant neck and thus the shaft is straight.  I used a KBS CT Tour shaft in flat black.  The raw length of the shaft is 38", but I game my putters in the 32-33" range.  The KBS CT Tour is available in a double bend version.

Thank you,

The Spider tour has removable weights and you use the standard torque wrench that comes with todays adjustable head (drivers, fairways and hybrids).  Not all the TM Spider putters have removable weights. I remember having one of the Platinum and it had some "weight" looking button held in with double sided tape.  Spider Tour Platinum on eBay.

Replacement weights can be had from a lot of sources, The Golf Works, Billy Bobs, Amazon, eBay, etc.  Link to one example

Really well done.  I am looking to do the same to mine but wondering how did you remove the weights?  Also, what did you put the same weights back in or did you get different weights?  Thanks for your help.

Just wanted to add a couple of pictures to clarify the differences in removable weights on these spiders.

The one on the left has removable weight, you can see the torx socket in the center and the socket is much deeper to allow for the weights and is says "2" grams.  The one on the right is a Tour Platinum and the "weights" are just plastic buttons glued in and there is no socket to screw in the adjustable weights.

Thank you for the reply.  I have the weights on the right that are non-removeable.  I might just try to heat them up and pop them off to see how that goes.  Thank you.

I removed some some time ago, I was thinking they were plastic, but it has been a while.  I used a piece of wood with prongs to twist them out and break the bond.  But a little heat would work, might damage them in the long run.
