Ping I525

Got fitted into the I525 irons a month ago.  When I put them in play I cannot stop hooking the ball.  The offset appears to be consistent with the demo club I tested.  Has anyone else had issues with these being extremely fade biased?  Could the weight ports of what I tested be different from what Ping would ship?

I didn't notice anything like what you described.  I do know the weights are screwed in, not sure if they offer weights with different grams.  Did you order a custom heavier swing weight?

No I ordered the exact same specs vs the fitting clubs.  I will look into a heavier toe weight.

Do you mean draw bias? They seemed normal to me when I hit them.

I didn't have a hook issue for the two months I had i525.  But I know full well what you mean about having hook issues with certain irons.

 

For me it happened with the 2019 P790.  On paper, the offset was near identical to i500 (that I loved).  But to my eye the P790 offset looked massive and I had it in my head that I'm gonna hook every shot.

 

I'd say it's all mental.  at least it was for me.  I could've cured it by working on my face to path at the range.  Or even in my backyard.  Get some foam balls and get close to a wooden fence or buy a cheap chipping net.  Lay down an alignment stick or golf club a few feet in front of you.  Spend a few nights taking the club back hip high and follow through down the line towards your alignment stick.  Go slow at first because you need to change your feels.  Occasionally stop the swing at impact and look at your face.  Is it open / closed?  Weaken / strengthen your bottom hand accordingly.  

 

You could also put a tee a few inches ahead of the ball either down the line or just inside the line.  Hit that tee after you hit the ball.  That'll get your club path online.  And again always check that face (stop at impact).

 

Your face is closed relative to the path.  Buying new irons is always a good answer for me 🙂 and this stupid game being so mental cured the issue for me.
