What Golf Trips Have You Got Planned for Next Year?

@jvincent You can do Baltray pretty near the airport for links; or drive inland a bit and play either of the Carton House courses and then have dinner or food there.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Just booked everything for the trip to Ireland in April. We're flying into and staying in Dublin and playing the following:

- K Club

- Portmarnock

- Royal Dublin

- Seapoint

- European Club

- The Island

Since we arrive at 5:30 AM we'll probably look for a jetlag round the day we land before we hit our AirBnB.

Corballis is the PERFECT jet lag round off the plane. Literally butts up to The Island and is a great links that’s tons of fun to play. It’s a par 66 5,000yd course with 7 par 3s, 1 par 5, and 10 par 4s . About 15mins from the airport, right on the ocean, with great greens and conditions. At €35 it can’t be beat! I’ve included some pics.

These threads make me so sad for myself.

All these folks going on great trips, many of which I have taken in the past which bring up memories and desires to return, and I have little in the books for this year.

Though the locations I haven't been do make me think I should be more active in my pursuit of travel and golf.

All I have is a trip to Pinehurst with no real way to build other destinations into the year based on other obligations.

I hope everyone has a great time at their chosen destination, and if you are going to the great historical courses make sure to get a caddie, if not for the reads and targets, the history and stories.

Got my reservations & tee times made today, hitting Mesquite Feb 2nd, going to play Oasis Canyon course, Falcon Ridge, & Wolf Creek.

Kinda debating if I should swap in Conestoga instead of Wolf Creek, & maybe play the Palmer course instead of the Canyon at Oasis.

Is it bad that I'm already looking forward to 2024? Already got 4 big ones in the works

-Scotland

-Nebraska (Landmand, Dismal River, Prairie Club, and gonna go for a hail mary and try to get on Sand Hills)

-Pinehurst after #10 opens

-New Zealand shaping up to be a real possibility

Re Nebraska... you do understand that Landmand is on the other side of the state from the other three, right?  It's a four hour drive at least.

And re the hail mary... send me a message.

I am aware, but there are not many other reasons for me to visit the great state of Nebraska other than golf so I am fine adding on the drive for a bucket list type trip 😂

This thread is somewhat depressing for me to read.  Can you guys have your wives get into contact with my wife and put her through a 6-8 week course on "the joys of letting your husband go on golf trips?"

I have to say, I don't know who does this service, but you can do it at home.  What I have done is tell my wife, "None of my friends will go so I am going to take you to (fill in the location) and I am going to play a day or two of golf.  I have always wanted to play this course."  After a couple of those trips she will realize they suck for the non-golfer and urge you to find someone else in her stead.

Never gotten to play Conestoga, but I doubt its as wild and cool as Wolf Creek.

Would definitely swap Canyons for Palmer at Oasis though. Back 9 (the one that goes up by Wolf Creek) is pretty blah. Palmer has some crazy tee shots into the box canyons that are fun.

Australia and NewZealand

Friends planned this pre Covid using a tour operator. Finally a go this March.

Victoria Golf Club

Royal Melbourne West

Metropolitan Golf Club

Kingston Heath

Barnbougle Dunes (+ a replay round)

Lost Farm

NSW Golf Club (the course I most anticipate on this trip)

Jacks Point

Millbrook Golf Club

Cape Kidnappers-  Two Days

Post trip on my own

Titirangi

Te Arai 36 holes

Ireland and Northern Ireland

My third attempt for this region. A family emergency caused a cancellation for the first attempt. A tour operator based out of Tralee skipped town with deposits for several groups, on my second attempt. I’m hoping third time will be the charm in June, with our Golf Association.

Portmarnock Hotel and Links (seems like an odd fit. I’m assuming tee time

availability for large groups is a challenge)

Portmarnock Old

County Louth

Portstewart Strand

Royal Portrush Dunluce

Royal County Down

After seeing Hammergolf and Sabram’s posts I think that Corballis would be perfect for an arrival day round. I land 8:25 from Toronto. No need to wait for the main group to arrive. Is Uber available in Dublin?

I asked the tour operator about playing The Island on our off/sightseeing/transfer day to Belfast. The Island’s website showed available tee times. But the operator didn’t seem very enthused about my idea.

Our Golf Association trips highlight the big name courses. Hopefully I can talk some friends into exploring lesser known courses in the UK and Ireland. But we’re all getting up in age and are not very flexible, both physically and idea wise.

Nice Oceania trip.  We have a very very similar trip planned this March/April..!

March/April    NZL/TAS/AUS

July/August    Nebraska

October/November   Oregon  coast and hit up the usual courses 😃

They don’t have Uber in Ireland like we do here. It’s basically a cab hailing service there. However, you’ll easily be able to get a taxi at the airport to Corballis. They also have a nice locker room with showers that will wake you up and refresh you after the long red eye flight. As far as playing The Island on your off/travel day, I don’t see why it would be an issue if you’re staying at Portmarnock links. It’s only 25mins away and kinda on the way to Belfast anyways.

They are more similar than you think. I tend not to opine about courses I haven't played.  Click on the photo below for a photo tour of Conestoga

Conestoga Golf Course

It looks like a great track...I've driven through the neighborhood and scoped it online before. And yes, I agree I try not to judge if I havent played a course (unpopular opinion, I think Spanish Bay might be the best course at Pebble, but I heard otherwise for years until I played it). But, I still think I'd play Wolf Creek just for the sheer video-game-esque vibe you get playing it. Every hole except maybe 10 is just a treat to look at and makes you think.
