Kirkland Irons (*** MERGED ***)

Didn’t see a thread for this already - apparently Costco is releasing irons soon. They look less GI than I expected, maybe they’re 790 clones? Thoughts?

I must be living under a rock the last few weeks since this is the first time I've heard of it.  Looks like Costco wants to get into the player's distance iron business since it is the most popular iron category. 

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Costco releases their own driver and woods in the next few years.

Idk if this has been brought up yet. Searched and didn’t find anything. I’ll delete if there is. Wonder what the price point will be. I think they look nice. Wish the branding was a little smaller

Not a bad idea to provide a clone at a great price. I'm sure they'll sell a decent amount, at first. What they missed is getting rid of that silly Kirkland Signature brand. Whoever is in charge of procuring this for Costco doesn't understand that golfers actually care about visual appearance.

I looked up indi golf.  Only wedges and putters on the site.  Very curious about this.  The last time I looked on the Costco website they had Honma irons and TP5 balls.

 

Perhaps someone at Costco purchasing is a golf nut?  No other reason for them to venture beyond gloves and balls imo.

I predict $399 with steel, $450 graphite, no left hand version.

I could deal with a logo or cursive signature on the blade, but I do not want clubs that are boldly stamped COSTCO or KIRKLAND.  I bet they will soon figure that out.

Totally agree, their logo needs work bad. They should go with something much simpler, like just a stylized K. The current logo is too gaudy. That change alone for their putters, wedges, etc would make a huge difference.

At some point things stop making sense.  For the type of club that is, for the caliber of player that would be looking for that type of iron - I don't think that type of player goes looking to Costco to fill out their bag.  

 

Balls, gloves, bags all good.  Even the putter and wedges.  But this....well there'll be plenty of people who buy them only to figure out it wasn't such a good idea.

 

So if you really want some keep an eye on your local Craigslist.

Indi Golf and Southern California Design Co., the designer of Kirkland wedges, are related. Costco will ask them to design a club that closely resembles and plays like a market leading club, which from the looks of this iron are similar to Mizuno or Titleist, and produce them to sell at a much lower price.

 

The wedges were knockoff Vokey wedges and you could get 3 for the price of 1. Irons could be $299-$399 for a set.

 

Indi wedges and putters are a premium boutique product.

Interesting they went for a players distance iron and not a super or ultra game improvement iron. But maybe one of those is next…

I feel like a lot of these small/DTC companies go with the hollow body design. Takomo 101, Haywood Signatures for example.

I have used their gloves for years.  They used to have a simple logo on them.  Looked great.  Now they have Kirkland written on them.  IMO, it degrades them. but I still use them.

Didn’t know Indi was affiliated. Won a wedge from them on here years back. Solid offering from what I recall but loaned it to a pal and never got it back

the wedges were actually pretty nice.  played well with them for a bit but didn't like the shine.  prefer a dull or raw finish.

I’m not sure the right place for this… but figured it would be an enjoyable game. 
 

for anyone who hates Bob Barker, the rules are simple: closest to the price of the new kirkland irons without going over wins.
