Kirkland Irons (*** MERGED ***)

Solid construction or hollow?

My guess is hollow, due to the "tungsten" marking on the back plate.

It also makes sense that Costco/Kirkland would make an iron that would be desirable to a large swath of the market...i.e. 12 index and higher.  So, my guess is that they are:

Hollow

P790-ish size

30 degree 7 iron loft

90-100g steel shafts.

Hell, they might even have a graphite set as well.  Regular flex?  Maybe a stiff flex skew as well?  Speculation is fun!

Considering how my handicap ballooned last year...I might be in the market for those when they come out.

Both the Kirkland and the Ram irons look very nice!  The kind of clean blade I wanted when I got my Mizzy HMBs.  Not looking for anything new, but if I was I’d give them a look.

I could deal with a logo or cursive signature on the blade, but I do not want clubs that are boldly stamped COSTCO or KIRKLAND.  I bet they will soon figure that out.

With all the golf gear Costco has now, you would think with these irons and just overall they would pull a Dick's, like with their MaxFli,  and come up with their own "golf" brand name and then stamp that on these irons. If these irons just had a minimalist K for Kirkland or something like that they would sell like hot cakes....and make the Takomo guys annoyed.

The same one that used their golf ball, putter and wedges.

Noah Buddy.

Its always interesting on the site where "I'm too informed on gear to be influenced by pros play", "I don't buy anything until I test it exhaustively" and "I don't care how it looks I'll play it if it performs for me" seem to be mantras for 75% of the members that one of the first things that comes up is some variation of "It can't be any good if its not played on tour", "I already preordered it" the day a new club is announced (even if there's a 3 month wait time) and my fave "I could never play that" based solely on a low res pic of the sole or the colour of the paint fill on the sole. Its makes for entertaining reading.

I'm not saying you are guilty any of the above, its just that your post inspired mine.

So funny these comments about the logo and/or branding.

What do they look at address position?  What does the wedge look like at address position?  That's what I wonder..

Many golfers nowadays seem more like 'well to do' ladies shopping for handbags.

What car do you drive?

Wrxers aren’t really the target market for these or any of their clubs, imo. But from my understanding the putter and wedges were very successful and based on the wedge pricing, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the iron set be priced in the $300 to $400 range which will make them an incredible deal.

Regarding the branding, a lot of people out there love the Kirkland Signature brand because it almost always means good quality at a great price. There are people on Etsy who design clothing with the logo because Costco doesn’t sell very much branded clothing and people absolutely love it. Again, this forum isn’t really filled with their target market.

Personally I think the design on the back is better than the wedges mainly because it’s simpler and basically just includes the logo.

  • GwrxMod changed the title to Kirkland Irons (*** MERGED ***)

More than likely Costco will have to limit purchase once they hit the stores and gain a cult following.  I've seen plenty of Kirkland putters in use, the gloves are as good as anything else out there, and the wedges are well liked by those I know who play them.

Logo aside, if they perform well, they will sell.  But the logo will put off a lot of people just because of the vanity factor.  I would rather see an exclusive brand like Dick's did with the Tommy Armour 845's.  I am sure they would not have sold as well if they had stamped Dick's on the back.

I love this. Would be hilarious to see Costco come in and become an actual force in the equipment market. Considering how well received the wedges and putter were, I’m sure these are going to be a hit. They look like they’ll be a great iron for a huge portion of golfers.

I’m sure there’s not a wink of fear from the big brands, but maybe with some better branding and continued quality clubs for cheap… we might see some ruffled feathers 🙂 (what weekend golfer isn’t buying these for 1/4 the price of some $1,500 hollow body big brand club?)

I can see myself golfing with Kirkland Irons/balls and Kirkland single malt 12 or 15 in hand 😆

The Kirkland 21 single malt is the best deal in whisky.

Only been able to find it once, if I ever see it again I'm buying a case!

Like we all assume these are middle of the road game improvement/players distance category with the 7 iron being 30°ish and PW 45°ish but if that’s the case there’s no way to blend this set to the wedge set being the gap wedge at 52°. Does that mean these can potentially be traditional lofts to match the wedge? 🤔 if so that would catch my eye more
