Any Cleveland Golf experts that can tell me what I got here?

One of my favorite sets i've never got a chance to own were the Cleveland CG7 Tour irons, I found a set that was pretty beat up and got them for $60. I figured for $60 what the heck, I can always get them re-finished or something if I like them.

 

Upon inspecting them farther I noticed all of the hosels have a "C" stamped on them, and the cavities look smaller than other photo's ive seen online. Are there any Cleveland experts in here who can tell me what these are?

I am not an expert. But some OEMs have slightly different heads for the same model. This would be for custom gear.

Like overlength irons can use a "B" head to keep the swingweight within "normal" ranges. 

Maybe you have a "C" head in that iron model? It's a custom head in some way?

Tour concept....I have been looking for a set of these in great shape for years....One of my favorite of all times.

Past BST listings have claimed the "C" is cleveland tour issue.  Some examples...

As stated above, the C stamp was for constant offset, and depending upon model, often was a smaller overall clubhead than retail. They were among many different tour concept versions- I had a set of CG4 tour irons with the TC stamp and original satin PX rifle shafts that were one of my favorite sets of minimal (almost no) offset, small cavity irons ever- still not bitter about C of C making them illegal for certain competitions 🤦‍♂️

I have a set of those and they are great. I have some black gold's in them and to me they are very soft. Great set of irons.

I was told that C on the irons was for conforming since they where pre 2014 

then also had a set made for VJ way back in the day right off the tour that had the C stamped as well.

These also came out during the "groove rule change." C stamps were tour issue. The "Tour Zip Grooves" in the cavity indicates that these have conforming grooves.

 

Cleveland issued both "C" stamp and "P" stamp tour irons. 

 

Overall, the CG7 Tours are awesome irons. They stuck until the 588 MB, CB, and TC irons. I'm not sure any tour player put the CG16's into play...

 

although, if you can find some of the "P"stamp CG16s, you should grab them. Great irons.

I just sent these off to Flanigan Built to be refinished, im excited to see how they turn out!
