Collin Morikawa testing the new TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus driver and 3 wood – 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions

Two things I see.  First, the shape is different.  Maybe a touch longer heel to toe.  Little more compact front to back.  Second, I always had this feeling that the OG Stealth+ 3w sat a bit closed.  Or at least my brain was not capable of holding it square lol.  This immediately looks more neutral to me.

Yes, I am a head case.  But, this is what I mean.

is this a troll? the two pictures are taken at different angles, you can't tell if one sits more closed or open based on these.

you can literally do the same thing with one of your own clubs to make it appear more open..

I understand it's important for the club to be "catchy" when it's sitting there on the rack as customers walk by.

But it just seems much. Simple and easy is far better. At least to me. Taylormade certainly cares about "rack appeal."

Yes yes. You’re onto me. My sole purpose is to troll people on face angles. Man you got me. Has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I owned the og stealth plus 3w and found it to be closed.

i'm not questioning whether or not the og stealth+ 3w sat closed to you. but your claim that the new version looks more neutral based on a picture taken at a different angle is laughable

Let’s get back to the thread and how nice they actually look. If that’s laughable to you, I’d love to bring you to a comedy show 😀

definitely look better than I was imagining. I'm still not a fan of that white alignment strip at the top of the face, but I can see how others may find it useful

I am glad I could bring laughter to your life and brighten your day 🙂

I tell you what, in the meantime.  I will just block you and avoid having you derail yet another thread.  That way we can all continue to just discuss the new gear.

I wonder how heavy the front weight will be in the non plus Stealth2.  Also, what the stock weight configuration will be in both heads.  Would be nice if we could order specific weights at the time of purchase.

Stealth plus 2

driver looks beautiful from the top. I'm sure the feel has improved too, can't wait to bag it!

Fairways look clean, but i'm scratching my head on MOI. thought farther back the weight the better MOI but looks hollow in the rear similar to nike covert. Even if it's adjustable, wouldn't forgiveness seriously lack if the weight was pushed forward?

I'm guessing that because Morikawa plays his driver shorter than stock (45 1/4" it seems) that the back weight has been increased by 4g. A 15g/15g stock setup makes sense, although we'll see. The Stealth2 standard feels like it could be 25g/5g, but again just a guess.

So at the risk of sounding like this....

Always Sunny Fx GIF

I want any of the "it's just another repackaged version of _______" detractors to consider what having THIS much weight on the bottom of the head actually means.

It takes around 10-15g moved from one side of the head to the other (either front/back or left/right) to make a meaningful difference in CG from a performance standpoint. Until now we've had roughly a range 9g-27g across all major manufacturers in terms of discretionary weight, and that heavier range has historically represented less overall adjustment range. PING has done fantastic in this regard with their giant rear weights, but no ability to swap weight forward/back without hotmelt. The SIM2 was similar, but far less adjustable since the heavy back weight couldn't move and the front weight was fixed as well. Everyone else has been somewhat behind IMO.

Now if Stealth2 has THIS MUCH weight to play with without the aforementioned limitations, the ability to tweak performance is going to be industry leading by a decent margin. And by that I mean from a CG and MOI perspective this one driver will be able to span the range of SLDR -> G400 MAX just by messing with these weights alone. That hasn't been before, and that is significant in ways that should be appreciated.

Do we know what stock length is? If its 46, alot of that is coming out for most players

That is where a piece of lead tape is used to cover it.....on my club....or black Gorilla tape for low weight change.

I love my OG s+ 3wd but will say it always looked like it sat closed at address. It’s 100% not bc I had it spec’d. it’s slightly open per the numbers but no matter what I feel like it’s toe’d in. I blamed it on the gloss/matte coloring and in the area where you drew a blue line is off. After seeing the new 3wd I will def be replacing the s+ with the newer one.

and yes I realize you can’t compare photos with the angles etc but it’s not unheard of for some clubs to be more closed/open looking at address. We have all seen it.
