Saw yesterday on Instagram and elsewhere a tease for a new Rapsodo product?  Any one have any sense what it is?  I went to their website and signed up for the updates - seems something is coming in 14 days or so.  Couldn't find any other information, specs, etc.

Current WITB:

In the flash on their website countdown, it looks like a new product that has a camera.

Maybe something in the $500-600 price range in comparison to the Garmin R10 that has some simulator capabilities.

Definitely has me excited to see / hear more!

Yes, this looks interesting! I ended up selling my Rapsodo MLM because it was too complicated to use it with my phone on the mount...I couldn't read numbers and the monitor angle would be off on some ranges (elevated mats/slopes/etc.)

I grabbed a screenshot as well - it looks like a more sophisticated launch monitor, so I'm guessing it will be more in the $1K price range.

There's an Android logo on it. Did they already add it to their existing monitor?

No, I don't believe they have rolled out Android for their MLM (website confirms this).

Would be awesome if it could be used with The Stack for speed training as well.

Ok. It’s the MLM 2, hence the “2.” It does more spin metrics, and seems to have a built in camera so you can keep your phone or iPad near you so you can review the swings and data without having it on the unit. Callaway is a partner of some sort. Seems as if there are special balls as well as they keep showing them in every promotion piece.

Thanks for the insight. If the price is right, I may not be able to resist. I liked a lot about my Rapsodo MLM, but the inability to see numbers and phone overheating caused me to sell it. If this adds spin and solves those issues, I’ll be very intrigued.

I grabbed some photos from another video they posted on Instagram. Looks promising!

As @Frankensteins Monster mentioned, it looks like there will be a special Callaway ball launching alongside it.

If it's going to have its own ball, then it's not so much of a range product.  More of a simulator or on-course product right?

When I had one, I would position my bag so that the MLM was in its shade.  And once I started doing that, it never overheated again.

As for numbers, I used airpods and it would read them out to me.

Ultimately sold it since I now have access to Trackman and couldn't use the MLM for speed training or anything else.

It did make range sessions more engaging.

Probably, but if the ball they use doesn't match the characteristics of the ball you use on course, there isn't much point outside of entertainment value.

Then there's the issue of supply - Uneekor had a partnership with Bridgestone to make premium marked balls for the QED and that didn't even last three years, so people have had to get creative with stickers, milling and other methods to use their game ball, or any urethane-covered ball with the launch monitor.

And, as noted, you still can't get spin metrics on the range without sacrificing a marked ball.

All of this is even harder to do in a market where R10 already exists. MLM is what? $400? Why on earth would you not spend the paltry 200 extra to get a significant upgrade?

I have both and don't see R10 as a significant upgrade.  Note I use both ONLY hitting into a net.  Although the MLM does not (or at least I do not trust its accuracy) track what direction the ball goes I am at the skill level where I know if I pull or slice it.  I do 100% back it's accuracy in carry, ball speed and launch angle.  When I use the Garmin, yes it does track what direction the ball goes but when I do a huge slice it just shows a slight push.  I feel like for what the MLM is at, $350, all the metrics it does do (which is only a few) are extremely accurate whereas R10 does too much and is not as accurate.  I am looking forward to this monitor and am hoping it is not more than $1k.

No personal experience with either (far below the price point I entered at) but the ability to use the basic launch monitor functions on either mobile OS and included simulation software for iOS is kind of an upgrade for two hundo.

But agreed on the R10 trying to do too much at once.

I will not buy one of these until they get it on Android.

There's an Android logo shown at the end for the new product video. I think it's safe to say that MLM2 will support it.

Interesting. Play your home course simulator? No need for insane, bordering on criminal, yearly fees and/or course buys. If a course is GPS mapped, you can play it on their simulator. If they don't have your course, request it. Will be interesting to see what this offers and at what price point. Could go either way.

Have you used your R10 at all lately in the last few months? There was an update that allowed the use of RCT balls (or metal dots). After the update carry/spin numbers are almost always spot on with GC4 and Trackman. Yeah the spin axis is still a little bit of a weak point still (what can you expect for $600), but for pure carry/spin into a net/screen, it's going to be a hell of a lot more accurate than the MLM and is approaching accuracy of monitors that cost 20x more.
