8 Person Trip Scoring/Gambling over 4 rounds

What is the best way you have gambled and competed on your golf trips? 8 people with fairly close handicaps over 4 rounds.

For our group of 8 guys we have a mix of individual and team games to make it fair for everybody. We usually have 2 overall games:

 

Individual total par points - 100% of your handicap - $50 entry, $200 for 1st, $100 for 2nd, $60 for 3rd, $40 for 4th
2 man best ball (random draw for teams) - 75% of your handicap - low total score wins - $50 entry - $260 for 1st, $140 for 2nd

 

We also have various daily games... skins, group vs. group, 2 man total par points, 2 man best ball - round robin (everyone plays everyone), etc.

 

We draw names out of a hat the night before for the teams and pairings the next day.

Stableford full handicaps. Random draw, each team gets an A and B player. 
 

My group has done it both ways and have decided we like having an individual and team game going on at the same time. After all rounds have been played: top 2 individuals make money. Winning team gets paid, second place team gets their money back. 
 

We have also done it where individuals pay out after each round but there’s no running total for individual winner at the end. 6 to one half dozen another on the preferred method. I like paying individuals each day because it keeps everyone involved for every round. If you’re doing a team game that purpose is being served that way too. 
 

Stableford is great because you don’t have guys grinding a putt for double or triple. It’s also very easy for team scoring purposes. Just add the 2 players together and that’s their team score. Best ball takes a lot longer to add up each night unless you have an app or software doing it for you. Did a net and gross skins game on top of individual stableford with a group of 12 and that was a hassle. 2-3 of us ended up doing scoring for way longer than we would have liked each night after dinner.

You could play a round robin of 9 hole 4 ball matches. Winner of each match gets a point, 1/2 point if it’s a tie. After 9 holes you switch partners. This lets everyone play with and against everyone. You assign each player a number.

 

DAY 1 9 hole matches

1&2 vs 3&4

1&3 vs 2&4

5&6 vs 7&8

5&7 vs 6&8

 

DAY2 9 hole matches

1&5 vs 2&7

1&7 vs 2&5

3&6 vs 4&8

4&6 vs 3&8

 

DAY 3 9 hole matches

1&4 vs 6&7

1&6 vs 4&7

2&3 vs 5&8

2&8 vs 3&5

 

DAY 4 Front 9 matches

1&8 vs 2&6

3&7 vs 4&5

 

Back 9 matches

Most points plays second place points 

Third place points plays fourth place

Fifth place plays sixth place

Seventh place plays eight place
