I haven't used a glove in 30+ years.

However I do sport rain and winter gloves when needed.

Was same me for me - back in the day, I used to wear a glove, and I had a wicked slice and a driving range teaching guy suggested my grip was too tight . Guy says, be cool

like Freddie Couples and try it without a glove” and that helped he get to a nearly respectable fade. Never went back except for torrential range or frigid temperatures.

Some streaks… holes, not days. Have tried to more recently, working thru grip changes so I have one “Sharpie marked” w/ template grip and pressure points. If I saw data that it improved club control… or anything, I’d try harder to wear. Ex-baseball, batting gloves were only on hottest and wettest days. Feel is always best “skin-on” IMO… and my grips are tacky enough.

Being in Florida, do carry 3-4 towels… and keep this in bag…

I've never considered not wearing a glove; but after reading a lot of these replies, I might need to experiment some in the spring.

I discovered that going 'no glove' came down to breaking a habit and psychological resistance.  I found no actual (versus perceived) performance difference.

No glove for me either. I use leather grips and the tack is amazing.

Same - in hot, humid Thailand temperatures.

Bestgrip microperf grips - no glove needed.

Not in Chicago October conditions either- all the skiing base layers etc got an airing

Prefer a glove for woods/driver never otherwise.  Hot weather keep a rosin bag.  Build up grips a bit more as well, but that's just preference.

My hands sweat like the proverbial “ho” in church, so i’ve always been a glove guy. When its hot and humid in the summer I’ll many times use 2 gloves in a round (still able to use them beyond that after they dry). I do however go gloveless inside 60 yards or so.

I’ve tried products to help with that but they make my hands feel weird. One of the few things I’ve found to help dry them out is lightly grabbing a wet frogtog style towel. It seems like the small amount of moisture on there that gets on my hand evaporates and I get a brief window of dry palms.

Good for all you Freddie Couples handed fellas that can go gloveless all the way around!

  • 1 month later...

Went to the range today and somehow lost my glove en route. My Sunday Golf Bag uses a Velcro strip and I guess it must’ve fallen off somewhere. I have plenty gloves at home and didn’t really want to drop $20 for a new glove just for the range. I told myself I’d just work on tempo and actualizing some swing thoughts because I was worried I’d tear some skin around my middle and ring fingers or my palm. Felt a little weird at first, but lo and behold by the end of the session I was gripping and ripping while working on rotating through impact and clearing my hips…. with a persimmon driver (Kool Cat F-1) no less! No skin peeling away from nails. No tears. No calluses.

Didn’t know what to do with myself halfway through the session. Even on mishits, thinned shots, etc… my L hand held up, no tape or anything. And the pure shots, never felt better, especially with the persimmon driver. Irons felt way more in control also.  Now the dilemma is whether or not I keep going along with the gloveless trend or not. Part of me is excited, the other is apprehensive. Been a lifelong glover. What I’ve decided to do (for now) is keep a glove in the bag and maybe try playing my next round sans glove. I’ll prob just put a couple wraps of tape around my fingers to help soothe my nerves. Never thought I’d be a gloveless golfer… but maybe my losing my glove today was a blessing in disguise. Time will tell… 🤷‍♂️
