Flat / zero drop golf shoes 2023?

Recommended Posts

True is your best bet, and only the Original style.

Ecco Bioms are lower drop, but I do not think they are zero drop (probably closer to 4mm).

Unless you absolutely need waterproofing, it might be worth it to look at Altra or Vivobarefoot as an option.  They have some trail running styles that would probably work just as well.

I've had probably 6 pairs over the years and never had to "break them in" - they're great right out of the box and their customer service has always been fantastic.

None of them needed a break in period

you'd be the perfect person to ask this then... which of those is the most comfortable for walkers. Give me your top 2 for walking.

Just got FS-01, won’t wear on course til California trip in 2 weeks, seem very comfortable.

Knit2 rules if no waterproofing needed.

Ripstop are extremely comfortable, and are weather resistant.

OG most comfortable waterproof, sport Lux not as much padding, but still comfortable.

Just a friendly FYI and probably already mentioned but make sure if you're ordering True's they state zero drop in the description. They have some minimal drop and some zero drop.

Ran across this thread, never heard of these, but might be for me. Good looking shoes.   I’d be looking at the waterproof models.

I’m looking for user experience:

Does the waterproof perform well?

Are the insoles removable? I need to use orthotics.

I notice some models described as wider footbed, is that the experience?

How is the sizing?  My experience is some shoes require me to go up a half size for a proper fit.  Normally I’d order the 2 sizes and return one, but I see they have a restocking fee.

TIA.

I have worn both the sport Lux and OG in rain, fully waterproof

FS-01 is the only one that doesn’t appear to have removable insert.

I have not been charged a restock fee.

OG is widest

Give your feet a chance to strengthen if you wear zero drop.  I had the OG TrueLink clown shoes and my feet had some muscle soreness after wearing them the first couple of times.  Same with my Ecco Bios.  Guess there ere some seldom used foot muscles that are needed when wearing those shoes.  Other than that, they're very comfortable.

Same, and I've had about eight pairs of TLs over the years.

As other posters have said, though, make sure you check the description carefully when buying - only some types are zero drop, and some types are wider than others.

This is a true statement — similar to starting to wear Birks.

As to the other point on breaking in Trues? Fake news.

I've used trail running shoes in the past, and find that they work just as well as spikeless shoes.

True OG

I never owned them. But i am curious if they are comfortable for walkers.

I have 2 pairs of the OG Feel that I wear daily at work, so 8+ hrs on my feet and they are super comfortable. As others have said, if this is your first 0 drop shoe, you will likely feel some of those foot muscles that awaken with a 0 drop shoe.

Altra’s are the most comfortable shoe I own. Have a pair of the trail shoes (lone peak 6) and play in them from time to time. Do more walking and running in them though. If we are leaving the house and in a rush, my first thought is grabbing altra. The traction is incredible, wide toe box and zero drop. So confortable. Stability isn’t that great for high swing speeds but I love them. Try them out, you won’t wear a normal shoe/toe box after

I ordered a pair for myself after a lot of research around this subject. I'm now fully convinced in the "barefoot" minimalist style shoe across the board. Given these follow the same principles for your foot health, I can guarantee they will be comfortable for walking.

I tried mine on but have to exchange them because they are a half size too small. But I walked around in them to get a feel and it's very bizarre at first compared to any other shoe you're used to. I felt off balance (but in a good way) moving around sometimes, and when just standing still you feel almost like you're going to fall backwards, but it's because we're so used to shoes with significant drops from heel to toe that push us forward. I immediately noticed a difference in my posture and felt less pressure in my lower spine too.

Your post In reference to True OG? I bought 4 pair recently, couldn’t stand the discomfort after 5 minutes.  No, I don’t have weird feet etc.  Sent them back.  YMMV.

Is this your first zero drop shoe? If so, you need to give it far longer than 5 minutes.
