Rory using Vokey in Dubai

The Vokeys are in play today! The low bounce option may have been a risky choice as the course is playing very soft, somewhat soggy, due to the overnight rain. 

A few chips were a bit stubbed.

Ok so his first 9 holes he struggled bad and was fortunate to make the turn at par. His putting was good today and slowly started to find his groove as the back 9 went on. Hit a couple nice pitch shots. The field should be concerned that he started rubbish and finished the day (it’s 2 holes and a putt) under par.

Scottie just plays a standard LBK. This is the custom hand ground LBK with pre-worn leading edge and trailing edge grind. It been played by Kevin Na, Webb Simpson, Xander and JT. It's very similar to the new Callaway Z grind.

 

 

 

If there is one wedge i'll always understand cheating on the sponsors with it's a K-grind of some sort. I'm earmarking money in my Will to have Aaron Dill shape the bottom of my casket for perfect turf interaction. 😆

Rory with Vokeys in the bag is the early favorite to win all 4 majors! Hope Rahm doesn't hear me say that....I think this is going to be a ridiculously good year for pro golf.

He switched back to the project x steel (not wedge) shafts for day 2. Looks like he didn't like those new wedge shafts at all (and it showed)

Good point - even though it was day 2, he was technically still in round 1. I wonder how he was allowed to change shafts (since his wedges clearly have the regular PX stickers now, as opposed to the wedge shafts from yesterday)

Looks to be a 54.10 S-grind with some additional toe relief (?) and leading edge blunting bent to 55 so 11 degrees of bounce:

It is the wedge shaft, I don’t think the clubs are to blame. This course is paradise for someone who drives it like him which is why he’s in contention even with subpar iron and wedge play
