Scotty Cameron Super Select Putters for March 2023

Recommended Posts

I just saw them for the first time in the store today and I will say they look better in person than on the website. The pictures on the website look overly photoshopped to me or rendered (not sure how to describe it). The special select and super select feel pretty light compared to my current gamer - 2018 NP2. The Mizuno mcraft that I was playing with also seemed so much heavier (like it almost swung itself). Maybe other putters are just heavier but it was an interesting comparison. I thought the 2018 NP2 was the same weight so maybe the matador grip is throwing me off. Anyone have any insight into this? Pics below are NP2 vs. a Ping PLD. The NP2 looks "nicer" to me. Not sure if its the subtle shape differences or the finish - I just liked it better. The topline is SOOOO thin to me. At first I thought I was going to hate it but in person it looks so much better. Against the PLD it looks like a "sharper and more refined" putter. I may try to offload my special select squareback that's been sitting in the closet and may pick one of these up.

Great pictures thanks. The interesting thing to me is they have switched places. The new Scotty looks closer to the older Ping Anser 2 stainless and the Ping PLD looks more like Scotty’s studio stainless Newport 2.

The PLD is shorter (blade length) and has a wider top line……. These are the bugbears of the PLD ….for me.

However the Super Duper has the drawbacks of too many SC engravings and so far I have heard that there is no real difference e in feel between the new and old iterations…but yet to try myself, so it’s hard to justify  the purchase…… but at address it’s visually spot-on.

First outing with the 2.5+ earlier. Very very impressed with the results, never been a Scotty fanboy. I have owned three Cameron’s before this and none of them lasted any amount of time in the bag. I can’t wait to get out there again and use it

Does the new line still have the thin toplines? I loved the special select NP because the top line was thin.

How does the dual milled face feels against the special select?

At address the special select and super select look the same to me. I only noticed the ultrathin topline for the a Newport 2. Of course, they all could be thinner than the 2018 models but I just don't remember. Also the newport 2+ has a thicker topline (see Pic)

I couldn't really objectively test the new milling. It was a really small space to putt. They sounded very similar but I couldn't swear to it.

I pre-ordered the Newport 2.5+ at 1 degree flat on the 6th and got it today.

The milling is slightly noticeable compared to the previous model special select, but nothing I would call "much" softer.

I was surprised that the model came in at E0 swingweight. I don't know why but I had assumed it would be closer to D4-5 like the previous squareback.

I was testing both out at store today and could swear the new version felt a touch clickier.  The old version was demo that has been sitting out and rolled a ton vs brand new, maybe that's why?

Picked up a Studio Stainless Mid-Sur today. I was seeking this out because of the 375g head weight and longer neck. It’s currently cut down to 34.5” but I think I’m gonna have it cut down a little more.

Really interested in the golo 6.5.  Anyone compare it to the flowback?  Curious on size.

Similar to a Newport plus with slightly longer neck. 34-33.5 is a good length for them depending on preference.

I think I like it but love the clean look as well. I also tried black fill but didn’t like it too much.

Maybe one day Scotty will provide an option for no sight lines to retail… sigh

Guess I just need to make it on tour! Or maybe I can convince JDay to give me a backup of his beautiful 6.5 GoLo - that or Rahm’s blank Rossie take my vote for best looking mallets on tour.

Agreed. I saw in a thread somewhere that supposedly a naked Rossi Tri Hot 5K will be available. I really like the Tri Hot Rossi look, but for what they are asking it's kinda hard to not pick a Scotty GoLo 6 instead.

I hit the new Super Select NP2 today back to back with a Special Select NP2 and I have to say I really liked the new one. I think they are both great putters but for me the Super felt a touch softer, really in between the old deep milled Select and the Special Select in terms of firmness. I also think the milling is visibly deeper. I will definitely be picking one up at some point.
