Needlepoint Logo Belts

I have no dog in this discussion, but what are your opinions on joggers and hoodies?

Just my opinion, but the well done needlepoint make me think about a very classic/country club vibe.  Not necessarily my cup of tea, but when worn with well fitting shorts/pants and polo they are no more noticeable than the club logo on the polo.  Thats why they sell SUV's and sports cars - we all have different tastes/opinions.

now, about those white belts, sunflower seeds, loud music, and 15 caps playing blades from the tips.  (I KID)

I like some of them but I prefer the preppy/classic look in general vs new school joggers etc. That said, they're best paired with solid colors. I see too many people wearing them with busy outfits and it's too much.

Odd comment.

One of the gifts for our member-guest was a Smathers & Branson belt with the club's logo.  Classy and I dig it.

And at the end of the day, it's a freakin' belt.  I wear pink ones, grey ones, black ones, needlepoint ones, woven ones, ostrich ones, etc.  They all serve a purpose and the color or design I choose is because I like to have fun with what I wear.

My Grateful Dead S&B belt does not make me cringe, it makes me smile, and that’s enough for me!

I don't understand the "elementary school" comment.  Smathers belts especially are about the preppiest country club staple I can think of to be honest.  Now, if that's not your jam, so be it, plenty of belt options out there.  Fact is though, they make some high quality stuff - t's pricey, but it's well made.

I think the elementary school comments come from many needlepoint belts having childlike graphics on them.

Childish, or just low-def? The low-def, pretty-impresive-that-they-made-that-image-in-that-narrow-strip-with-needlepoint aspect is part of (if not the) appeal.

I disagree. There's nothing childish about a landscape of St. Andrews, hunting dogs, club logos, and plenty of the other adult-age subjects depicted on some of these belts. But if you associate needlepoint (and not necessarily these belts themselves) with baby pillows stiched by great aunts or something, I get that.

You don't have to defend them from me, I really have no opinion of them. Someone asked why they get a "elementary school vibe" and I feel that is why. Just doing a couple quick, random searches shows many belts with childish graphics like burgers, hotdogs, spaceships, ketchup bottles, dancing bears, etc. I know they are not all like this, but just trying to answer the question.

That's needlepoint - literally is the "look" as it were.  Part of the reason I really like the belts is that classic Americana vibe.  My grandparents had a lot of needlepoint Christmas tree ornaments, for example.  They had needlepoint initials on napkins and stuff - I really like the classic/nostalgic look of it.

I totally get it, not for everyone, just like any other style.

No doubt. I have seen many that I like. They are nostalgic for sure!

I highly suggest checking out Needle Golf.  I have a few of their belts from top 100 clubs and they’re awesome.  All hand stitched and they have a better leather and buckle than Smathers in my opinion.  My wife got me the Chubbs/Happy Gilmore belt from www.needlegolf.com for Christmas haha.  They have some cool stuff and good quality from my experience.

My clothes range from the joggers/hoodie vibe to traditional wing tips/slacks/polo/vest. Guys can look good in any of these, if the outfit fits well and is well thought out.

I don’t get the hate for the white belt as an absolute - I understand a chunky guy wearing a white belt with black pants and a navy shirt is ugly, but I often wear an all white look other than the shorts or pants. Say, white polo with navy shorts, white belt, white shoes.

But, you do you 😎
