Sweatpants on the golf course

Wanted to see what people think about sweatpants on the golf course?

I voted no, but, it depends on the golf course. At some golf courses, sweat pants are fine.

The apparel industry already figured out the workaround on this.   Just change the name to joggers and suddenly some of the same people who were against them now think they're the greatest thing ever invented for golf.  😄

I say pajamas are the new sweat pants.  Lets really be comfortable. Bunny golf shoes would be nice also.

Depends. Fitted bottoms (pants/joggers...whatever you want to call them) like the picture above are cool with me. Billowy, grey sweats with Cheeto stains on them are a no go.

Well, no one has been wearing sweatpants so not sure what you're asking. Are you trying to be funny and you're calling joggers sweatpants?

 

No, 100% cotton and baggy pants without beltloops that are felt-lined aka sweatpants should not be worn.

 

Yes, a blended performance materials 4 or 5-pocket jogger that is form fitting and has belt loops can be worn.

 

Is that better?

Form fitting joggers look brutal on guys golfing. In shape or not. Unless looking like you shopped in the Women’s department in PGA Superstore was the goal

Hard to qualify what a 'sweat' pant is anymore.  I don't like seeing guys on the course dressed like they just came from the gym, but I don't know how you quantify that in a dress code.

The general public doesn't care either. Occasionally have to hit up the local Dollar store, standing behind some clown in his pajamas hasn't showered in a week buying Marlboro's..... nice. 

On the golf course whatever, chances are you at least showered in the past day or two. 😎

Although I find the whole joggers and athleisure trend on the golf course a bit ridiculous, I don't really care all that much about what other people wear. Do I think you look ridiculous? Sure, but to each their own.

 

That being said... Is it really that hard to put on a polo and slacks?

Depends on the course and conditions.  Yesterday wind chill was under 20* F, sweats covered by wind pants made it far more bearable.

My ability isn't limited by my wardrobe. Tastes in clothing change over time and through culture. Typically only boomers care about clothes because they only know conspicuous consumption, I don't fault them for it. I cant control what concerns them.

 

Pace of play only gets slower. We're worried about the wrongs things here. Courses can continue to thrive as more golfers play. Faster golf = more golfers.

Pretty tough to purchase a pair of nice golf slacks with a decent polo so if money is tight and you like the sloppy look go for it.

I'd say dress a little bit better than those "Walmart Formal" sweats. Just because you are new to the game or younger than 30 doesn't mean looking presentable dressing accordingly doesn't apply to you. Remember, you are in public, not behind a zoom call.

... Careful with labels. I am that age group band the 60's and 70's were my high school and college years. Most everything we did was anti establishment including our attire which was ridiculed as was our long hair. I vowed I would never have a negative opinion about a younger generations clothes or music. I couldn't care less what anyone wears on the golf course as long as they and their wardrobe are clean.
