.. Careful with labels. I am that age group band the 60's and 70's were my high school and college years. Most everything we did was anti establishment including our attire which was ridiculed as was our long hair. I vowed I would never have a negative opinion about a younger generations clothes or music. I couldn't care less what anyone wears on the golf course as long as they and their wardrobe are clean.

Thank you. Wish this attitude was more prevalent. I’ve said this before - too many golfers rail that golf is in fact a sport, then many of the same people are aghast at someone showing up to play without pleated khakis and a cotton polo shirt two sizes too big.

The attitude comes off as “…how dare someone wear athletic attire to play a sport? What are they thinking? Disrespecting the game, I tell you! Put that boy in his place!”

I played country courses as a kid in NC with zero dress code and it was an awesome environment to grow up and learn the game. We could go straight from school or before work and not have to worry about changing or being judged. So I think the answer depends on the course. If they have a dress code, I think it should be respected. If I don't agree with it, I just won't play there.

Would I play Pebble in sweats? Absolutely not. But I think more beginners would be drawn to the game if this wasn't an issue. I really miss the laid back attitude of the places I played as a kid.

Is it ok to simply not like the look?  Without it being said that I’m triggered.  Can we have an opinion?  I’m not worked up over it, I simply don’t care for the look. If he’s happy with how it looks, good for him.

Not everyone is a rabid fanatic.

Are you NUTS? This is social media. Subdued, rational opinions are NEVER allowed! 🙂

I have a golf wardrobe that is pretty extensive. About 50 or 75 polos, shorts pants jackets sweaters. Sometimes I wanna be comfortable on a Tuesday at 1030 when it's 60 degrees out and wear sweats and a t-shirt and hoodie. I'm also golfing with 60-80 year olds who don't care about what they're wearing.

On Sunday I'm gonna wear pants and a polo (untucked) because I'm not a professional but my friends usually wear "golf attire".

Like I said before, just play faster in whatever you're wearing.

Belt loops, zipper fly, golf pant stretch performance material vs bulky cotton.

Proper golf joggers are basically slim fit golf pants with a shorter cuffed bottom.

Add in- a little too tight, a little too short and you have the perfect setup for people to complain about the look.

The actual joggers people are wearing on the course are just like any other pants they’d otherwise wear, except with a cuffed bottom. I’m sure you knew that however and are just willingly ignoring that fact in order to express faux outrage on the internet.

I am going to say yes…… but only under rain pants.

winter golf my top layer is golf stuff and everything underneath is what is going to work the best. I have fleece pants that on really cold days I wear under my rain pants.

These look just like what Ryder was wearing on Saturday. Even the product description says jogger sweatpants. I think they look ridiculous personally, but also don’t get wearing a hoodie and never using the hood. I just started the poll to see how everyone felt.

The joggers made by Greyson (the ones referenced in this thread) are the same material as their golf pants (could be the Montauks), with the same finishes as mentioned by the poster above.  I'm not a fan of the jogger look, but the only difference is the jogger cuff / length of them.  Their pants are super high quality, and the material is some of the best I've worn for golf pants, for what its worth.

Those aren't remotely close to what Greyson makes.    You should check out their site, their golf stuff is very high-end.  Some of the best quality out there right now.

For the record - the term "jogger" refers to the hem, not the material...

Of course.

Never said that’s what he was wearing, I said, and I quote “these look just like what Ryder was wearing” Besides the tightness and fit difference, these both look very similar.

Put that boy in his place!”

... As you get older you recognize the mistakes you made when you were younger. It is also easy to get set in your ways as you begin spending more time at home and not out in the real world. And of course the only constant in life is change so it is a recipe for a get off my lawn attitude. I think you have to stay diligent and fight against falling into those traps.

... Just consider the generation before mine put actual grease in their hair, wore white tee shirts with a pack of cigarettes in their rolled up sleeve. Then us hippies came along with cut off jeans, and colorful tee shirts, no product in our hair that was sooooo much longer than 50's hair. Every generation is different and cannot be judged by another generation, just accepted.  So while I have an opinion on these sweat pants for me, I have no opinion on these sweatpants for those that wear them.

When some guys on tour started wearing joggers I was really against it...until I tried it.  Now I'm a fan.  Great option for a day in the mid-50's with a hoodie.

I get it...it's not for everyone but that's just part of style in general.  A few guys at the club asked me how I liked them but I've never had anyone give me sh*t about them or a hoodie.

In my opinion, golf should be comfortable for the vast majority of folks.  Doesn't mean that tank tops and board shorts should be the norm but forcing super strict dress codes is silly and outdated.  Joggers and hoodies are appropriate in my view.

I voted NO, but that also depends on the type of course and where it's located.  I've been to golf courses in TX, AZ and Midwest, where there is no dress code, jeans and sweatpants are common.  I have no issue with that either.

However, in metro areas, losing up the dress code is a recipe for giving an inch, and people take a mile; abuse the code and the course will soon look like a beer bar.  If the course sees itself as having a reputation to uphold, they will enforce the dress code.  I know most of the courses I play, enforce dress codes, so it wouldn't be acceptable.  Some of them will tell the visitor to leave the course and come back properly dressed.

once a guy from work showed up for a game in sweats. too bad his outfit was absolutely NOT color coordinated.

think black sw pants w a navy top. white socks. sneakers.

if that's an example - then no. wear slacks and a decent shirt. one could wear that for bowling or fishing. even painting a fence.

not golf.

This is what gets lost in translation so often, jogger is the fit and not the material. Hell, you could make denim joggers if you wanted to (not that anybody should but they would technically be joggers.) big difference between joggers and sweats when it comes to golf attire.

But I'll echo what's already been said, why in the world would I concern myself with what type of pants another man is wearing? I've got much more important things to waste my time on, lol.
