I feel a little guilty... just kicked the MP33's out of the bag

After playing the MP33's for a while now and rotating them out of the bag from time to time to try a new flavor, I've finally found a set that I like better... enough to box up the MP33's and stick them in a corner for awhile.  And nobody puts Baby in the corner.  I get it.

I changed up my swing again recently and have switched from a sweeper to more of a digger and the 33's just seem to dig too much for me with that sharp leading edge.  For whatever reason I hit the everlivinpiss out of these new (to me) irons.  Nike VR TW blades circa 2009.  They have a more rounded leading edge and the trailing edge is contoured which makes it feel like it gets through the turf easier for some reason.  Also... both sets have the same shafts and grips... DG S300 with Winn Dri-Tac grips.

I still love the 33's, but for whatever reason I just like the way these feel better.  I can't believe I even thought that, but it's true.  Not only is the feel better (for me), my dispersion is better, the turf interaction is WAY better, and distances are the same.  One standout though... the forgiveness on the Nikes is better.  I wasn't expecting that.  Looks go to the 33's though... not a huge fan of Nike as a company personally and anything with a swoosh on it is just blah to me.  I might get rid of all the paint fill on the Nikes.

Strangely enough, the MPF on these is 516 vs the 33's are 419.  The Nikes even seem easier to hit than my 718 AP2's, which doesn't make much sense but they do.

So anyway... I'm not selling the 33's and I'm sure they'll get a spot in the bag from time to time... but for now I'm embracing the change.

Nike blades are incredible. No if ands or buts about it.

You can always get the 33's re finished.

Could look to  newer models of mizuno.

MP4 's come to mind, as well as the MP5'S and newer. As always, enjoy what you have. Never feel guilty over clubs

I badly miss my MP33's. They were dispatched in style though as, at the time they were replaced by a set of MP68's. I used the box and packaging to send them on to the eBay buyer.

Strangely a group of us were having a conversation about the Nike clubs on Sunday, saying how long some of them stayed in tour players bags for.

This is masssive news, WRX should feature this on the front page. Moving on from 33s is like divorcing Gisele bundchen. It takes one hell of a man

let us all gather round and commiserate/congratulate, share our thoughts and feelings, and bond as a community

I say this without hyperbole or sarcasm

Im not sure why nike gets so much hate in clubs department. I think they were personally underrated. I have a set of vapor speeds exellent condition and yes they are shovels... like.. tooooo big.. but they did a good job keeping them light and looking down on them you would never guess the sole is that wide. I smacked one the other day and couldn't belive how good it felt. Didnt feel hallow or loud at all. Almost forged like for a big cast.  Played a 2014 vr driver last summer and it felt and went great.

I play a similarly beloved blade, the 1999 Hogan Apex, and just added a set of Wilson Staff FG-51s to the mix. One of the many great things about these older clubs is that the financial barrier to having multiple sets is a lot lower. I love switching it up here and there and these modern-classic blades are easy to find at decent prices.

Nike blades were really really good so I’m not surprised to hear your report!

The VR TW blades are my favorite clubs I ever owned still to this day. I'm so sad I sold them on here years ago in order to afford buying some Titleist 714 MBs. What I would do differently...
