Mizuno 223 or 225

The 223's are really solid iron, does everything well. Have not tried the 225 because of Mizzy hates lefties, but I doubt I would like them as I hate all hollow body irons. I do have the MP20 HMB 3 and 4 irons (close construction to the 225), they feel dead to me to be honest, ball definitely goes, but the feels suck.

Been playing the 225's since the summer and I believe they are the best irons I've ever played. I don't get any fliers and the dispersion is tight for me. Spin is fine, I love the look and feel with just enough forgiveness. I play mine 1 degree weak throughout the set. Just as long as my cf19's but better for me in every category.

any negative effects on bounce and turf interaction with weaker lofts? I'm waiting for the snow to melt trying the mp225s. I have MMCs that I like, but was looking for something a bit more forgiving. My concern is the low spin on them compared to MMCs.

I played and have both. Not much difference IMO between them. The 225's are a little longer, the 223's have a touch more spin.
Unfortunately my iron game has been junk. I went to one length Cobras, the Mizzy's will be on BST soon as I am clearing stuff out!

I’m guessing I’m a Miz fan boy at this point. I’ve had all of the Miz Pros of the release and I also play the new 923 Tours from time to time.

I didn’t see it mentioned, but the 223 is much more spiny than the 225.

I’d also look into the 923 Tour. A little shorter due to the traditional lofts, but spin is nice and they feel great. They are certainly harder to play than my 223s, but it’s only marginal.

The best of any of the new Mizuno irons released over the last two years is the 221s. The feel is outstanding.

I had some of both  (225 in 5-7) and played the 223's in 5-PW. 223's were more forgiving than I thought they'd be, and I like some spin in my irons. You can adjust the loft a degree or two stronger if you want. I played them to spec.

I want a set of the 223s so bad. I don’t think I can hit them consistently but I want them.

I currently game MP-59 but looking to go 225. I want that extra forgiveness if it’s available lol

Id say the 223s are more comparable to my MP-59. Then again the technology between these clubs (the 223 and MP-59) may be larger than I thought.

I have a friend who games the 225s and he swears by them. I’ve never seem him strike the ball better.I purchased brand new 225(5-GW, DG 105R) and have chipped around in the back yard a few times with them, mostly PW and GW. Have not had a range session or a round of golf with them but determined  I’ll stick with my bagged ZX irons for the bigger sole and forgiveness in longer irons. Put them back in the Mizuno box and stored them away — may leave them there or sale them as like new/excellent. Undecided.

225's are the best irons I have ever played. Just perfect for me. I am sure I could game the 223's, but I just can't passed the looks of them. I know, stupid, but a deal breaker for me.

I just ordered a set of 245's so at some point in the next month, my 225's will be for sale.

Fwiw, the 223s are actually easier to hit vs. the 225 by any measure according to the Maltby ratings.   C dimension is slightly higher, vertical center of gravity is lower, and the MOI is higher in the 223.

Maybe in the long irons with the micro slot but the 223 short irons (8-GW) are a players cb.

I play 225 7-P w the 95g Project X IO 5.5s for two seasons now, and recently replaced my 223 GW with a Cleveland SmartSole 4 GW to get more forgiveness in short game. I play a PXG 5 wood as my longest club right now, and Ping hybrids from 4-6, experimenting with a 3h to replace my PXG 7 wood next. My other traditional wedges got kicked out for the SmartSole SW and Chipper. Driver is something I still can’t control, which is why I’m 5 wood off the tee. My 7 iron has a 7 hybrid breathing down its neck, sitting pretty in my rack.

I have never had a better short game than now using the SmartSoles, and my long approaches are hunting. I’m comfortable with approaches up to 165 with my irons. Hugely happy with this setup. I did grab a pair of DG spinner shafts for the Clevelands, but I’m pretty fine with what they came with in my gapping matrix.

Just upgraded from my old MP-63s to the 223s in 4-PW.  Got the 225 for the 3 iron and though it is plenty long it is far less directionally consistent than the 223 4 iron.  It also just looks too big.  I really wish Mizuno made a 223 3 iron.  (Why don't they?)

The 223 4 iron is the same length and loft as the 69 3 iron.

Also, vast majority of pros no longer carry 3 iron unless specialty club.  So no market.
