I kinda agree though - I haven’t seen a ton of RCF’s lately compared to FIT face in the Hive, but i personally can’t distinguish the two faces just from these witb pics. How can u tell whether this is FIT or RCF?

 

Good question - and again - I won't tout myself as some kind of expert.

 

I've got a 2021 SS7 and have been playing it "almost" uninterrupted for about two years. Great putter all the way around. Love the thing.

 

But, I don't test or hit a lot of putters, and my personal experience is limited. I've owned old school Pings and Odysseys. That's what I can concretely compare it to. So, take all of this for what it is worth.

 

From a visual standpoint - you can differentiate FIT from RCF by the perimeter of the milling in the contact area. FIT will have rounded corners. RCF has sharper corners. At least from my amateur observations...

Ultimately I don't know what "exactly" differentiates the FIT from the RCF in terms of physical feel or performance. I've never physically hit a ball with a FIT face - so can't directly compare.

 

But, when Bettinardi released RCF face, their marketing focused on the "nature of the horizontal grooves" and how they differed from FIT milling.

 

In the RCF, they aren't milled straight in - it's done in a "v" shape - apparently to impart better "end over end" roll on the ball. Those of us who tested it seemed pretty consistent in our reviews. It imparts wonderful roll - but it's also both "really soft" and "somewhat springy." Not for the faint of heart.

 

I have yet to find anything that feels even remotely similar. But, I have grown to really, really like it.
